The Not-Outcast by Tijan

Cutler Ryder was everything I wasn’t.

He was the hockey star. I was an outcast.
He was best friends with my stepbrother, that same stepbrother who hated me.
His two parents loved him. My mom was a junkie. My dad barely knew me.

Years passed.
I got my life together.
Cut went onto NHL stardom.

Then there was a text.
I was drinking.
There was a party.
Cut was there…

I loved Cutler Ryder since the first moment I saw him.
The only problem? He never knew I existed.
Expected publication: December 1st 2020

This book as soooo many others written by TIjan was a rollercoaster of emotions. I kid you not! If you’ve read Ryan’s Bed, you might know what I am talking about.

At 15% i started to really get into the story, the emotions and the intriguing plot had me blowing full steam. I devoured this book this evening and kind of forgot about the world for a bit. This is what this book does to you, it sucks you in and keeps you there.

Well done, Tijan. Happy to have read another great book.

A small warning, this book deals with mental issues and the life of a kid who was outcast by everyone but managed to come out a successful young woman.

Chayenne fought against the system, her unfortunately parents and her imaginative crush on Cut Ryder, her step brother’s best friend. Now she deals with her emotions and the line between reality and her coping mechanism for when she was young. This will add more on her because finally Cut sees her. Wants her.

Turns out she was in love and now Cut is interested. They are all grown up, but the family drama is still there and secrets are to be exposed.

The Insiders by Tijan

A trilogy coming to you

Book one: The Insiders

Bailey is as normal as could be, with a genius IQ and a photographic memory. But still, normal for her. Then, things happen — a guy breaks into her house in the middle of the night to take her hostage. She learns her father is billionaire tech genius Peter Francis, the same guy she’s idolized all her life. She finds all this out when she meets dark, mysterious, and electrifying Kashton Colello. He’s also an associate of her father’s, and he gives Bailey two choices—go with him and meet her father or survive on her own because those kidnappers are going to try again.

It’s a no-brainer.

After this, three things become clear for Bailey:

1. She has to live at her father’s sprawling estate, complete with bodyguards and the best security that money can buy.

2. She’s no longer an only child. She has three siblings and has no idea what to do with them and vice versa.

3. She is being guarded by Kash himself. Personally guarded. And there is a lot of guarding going on there and some of it is going to drive her crazy.

A complete outsider in a world of wealth and decadence, Bailey has to find her way within a family that has more secrets than she could have imagined. One of these secrets could be deadly…

Micaela’s Big Bad by Tijan

I found my boyfriend mid-thrust in a vampire.
Gross. WTH, right? Also, a fork might’ve been thrown.
I expected to spend the night commiserating with my best friend.
That didn’t happen. I found myself on a mission to save her.
And somehow, I woke up in the back of a vehicle, across from a guy who could be described as literal sex on a stick.

Then I found out a few things:
He’s seriously and overwhelmingly powerful.
He’s hot, like holy cannoli hot.
He’s the Big Bad that I’ve been sensing, but no one knew what kind of a Big Bad he was.

Oh, and apparently, he’s kidnapped me.

Nate by Tijan

Nate Monson was gorgeous, obnoxiously wealthy, and a player.
He was also the person who could destroy my world with a single decision.

I walked into that bar looking for him.
He saw me. I saw him.
The chemistry sizzled between us, but no.

I hated Nate Monson.
I hated him with everything in me, even though my body did not.
It didn’t matter.

Nothing I wanted mattered.
He thought I wanted to get laid.
What I wanted was for him to disappear.

But first, I had to tell him that he had a daughter.

Fallen Crest Public (Fallen Crest High Series #3) by Tijan

Sam’s first day at Fallen Crest Public doesn’t go well. Some girls want to be her. Some girls want to destroy her. And some just don’t like her. All in all, despite being protected by Mason and Logan, it’s still only the strong survive. Sam will not only have to survive, she needs to learn how to conquer too, but there’s another battle growing. Things are about to come to a disastrous end between the towns, Roussou and Fallen Crest. Sam’s other main dilemma? Keeping Mason and Logan from getting arrested or hospitalized.

This is book 3 of the Fallen Crest Series. By now you’ve known all their enemies and how they fight to keep the ones they love, safe.

Now that Sam needs to start school at the Fallen Crest Public, she finds out that she has to fight for herself and not let Mason and Logan fight her battles.

This book was heavier than normal, but I am aware Tijan writes things that press on your soul, so I was not disappointed. Spent all night reading this one, and when I woke up, I was still heavily feeling the book.

After Sam gets hurt, Mason has a plan. He knows his plan will hurt her too, but he’ll do whatever he needs to keep her safe. This part gutted me, because I am no fan of cheating, but there was NO cheating since she knew about it the whole time. Fair warning: he just pretends to date Kate, but he will not sleep with her.

As I always say, I try to judge a book by my feelings afterwards. This one left me dry.

Fallen Crest High (Fallen Crest High Series #1) by Tijan

Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend Samantha’s school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now she has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn’t care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent’s divorce. But maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.

This book contains adult/mature young adult situations.

I am sure, by now, most people have read and re-read Tijan’s Fallen Crest series. I know I have, but that was when I wasn’t reviewing on this blog, so I wanted to re-read them and have my thoughts fresh.

The first book starts with Mason and Logan Kade, the kings of Fallen Crest Public. They are legends and everyone wants to be with them. With that power and people in their past that took advantage, things don’t play well when Sam’s mother moves her into their home to be with their Dad. Now, she’s the stepsister of these 2 boys and funnily enough, she tries to  hide that as much as possible. Since she goes to the Fallen Crest Academy, with all their rich kids, some hate her when they find out she is close with the brothers.

Mason has his reasons to keep an eye on Sam, but she soon becomes more.

I think this book is fulled with the “politics” of this town’s high school and we learn how their world is run. More than that, who runs it.

This series is GREAT! If you’re a newbie, pick it up because it will keep you busy for a whole week. I guarantee it.

Beware that thier story continues in Fallen Crest Public.

Rich Prick by Tijan

Rich Prick, an all-new unforgettable, opposites-attract romance by New York Times bestselling author Tijan, is releasing June 15th, and we have the irresistible cover!

Synopsis:

He walked into school on his first day and owned it.
I guess that’s what happens when you’re a prick, rich, and you’re best friends with the ruling school’s king.
Also didn’t hurt he’s drop dead gorgeous.

That’s all fine.
I mean, I have nothing to do with them.
I’m a loner, invisible, and that’s how I wanted it to be.

I was even proud of it, until I wasn’t.

Until I saw a girl kneel before him.
Until I couldn’t look away.
Until he caught me watching.

His name is Blaise Devroe. My name is Aspen Monson.
He only knew how to get, command, and demand attention.
I knew how to do everything but that.
And this is our story.

*Rich Prick is a full 100k standalone.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that I am a Tijan fan right? You have a lot of books to choose from and I enjoyed most of them to the point of re-reading some. She has a lot to choose from and if you’re a newbie, keep in mind that Aspen and Blaise’s book is connected to Fallen Crest, but can be read as a standalone.

Aspen is the invisible girl. She goes unnoticed and has come to the conclusion that she needs no friends. She catches the eye of Blaise by mistake and he’s a lost man after that. I loved how protective of her he was from the start, feeling things he did not know, and making her a priority even if his life was coming apart.

The books written by Tijan makes you FEEL deep inside what she meant for her characters and you have no other choice but to love and cheer for them. The story seems real and not just rom-com real, but with damaged characters who come from damaged families. As expected, in her books you always wait for the other show to drop.

To sum up, it was a fantastic read and it made me want to start Fallen Crest series ASAP. That should tell you things. I usually review my feelings after reading a book, and this one left me consumed and happy by the end.

I can’t want to read her next books set in this world and looking forward to Zeke’s story. He will be a treat, for sure!

Bad Boy Brody by Tijan

One punch took him from Hollywood’s Golden Boy to Bad Boy Brody.

The media didn’t care he was grieving his brother’s death. They descended on him, but to change his reputation, his manager got him a deal.

Act in an indie film, one that already had Oscar buzz, and he’d get the movie roles he needed to secure his future.

He took the deal.

Yet he wasn’t prepared for the real-life people behind the script. He wasn’t prepared for the murder the movie was based on. And he really wasn’t prepared for her, the biggest secret of all.

She was wild. She was beautiful. She defied gravity.

But was she the leading role that would tame him?

Title: Bad Boy Brody
Author: Tijan
Publication Date: May 7th, 2018
Shelves: Contemporary; Romance;
Format: Kindle (298 pages)
Rating: 10/10

As I’ve said before, I’m in a Tijan bubble lately, so Bad Boy Brody was next in line. If you get confused like I did, when you saw that the book is also told from Mathew Kellerman’s POV, I had to check again if I had a M/M book in my hands.

This actually sounds brilliant to me that this book is told from 3 POV, Brody, Mathew and Morgan. In the beginning things seems fuzzy and I was actually asking myself if Morgan was real or not. The mystery around her mother’s death and Brody coming up to shoot a movie on, has Morgan restless.

As you’ll see further down the line, Morgan is a very kindred spirit, and she has a deep connection with a herd of wild Mustangs, more with a mare that saved her when she had to run and hide while her mother was being murdered.

Only people who lose someone understand what is like to suffer and want to forget, while also fighting to remember the person you loved so much. After Brody loses his brother, everything goes downfall.

His only shot at redeeming himself is if he does this movie. What he did not expect was to find Morgan and fall hard for her. Will his love be enough for the wild girl?

Some habits die hard. Soon Jesse and Alex are back to their ways of sneaking around. He’s a near-celebrity at school and she doesn’t want to deal with the backlash of being his girlfriend. Alex is tired of being hurt so she’s learned the lesson not to confide and lean on others. However, she can’t seem to help herself when it comes to Jesse Hunt. The big question isn’t if she will survive if their relationship goes public, it’s if she will survive when the real truths about her family and brother come out? Or when she learns that Jesse knows more than what he’s told her?

Excerpt Broken and Screwed 2 by Tijan

Timeline: after Broken and Screwed 2
Jesse’s POV

I trailed kisses up her throat.
Alex’s little tank top was stretched over her thin frame as she was half on her side and half on her back. Her head was tucked under a pillow and I pulled back, stopping just to watch her. Half her hair was sticking up while the other half was pressed down to the pillow. As she moaned and rolled all the way to her side, the hair kept its shape, flattened against her head. Some small strands fell over her face and as she breathed, they moved up and down. They were tickling her and her hand flew up, flicking the hair out of the way, but they moved back into place.
She reached up again to swat at them, hitting her face as she did.
She was beautiful.

Then her eyes opened and she stared at me a moment. A sleepy fog was still in her eyes, but she murmured as she lifted a hand to my face, “I thought you were a fly. I was going to swat at you.”

I laughed, capturing her hand in mine. Moving above her, I pinned her hand down to the bed and stared at her, absorbing every little detail about her. “You did, but you hit yourself.”

She groaned. “So that’s what that was.” She snorted. “Figures.”

Pretty little Alex. Those had been the words Tiffany called her yesterday when they had a spat over dishes. When they realized who had left the mess in the sink, all of them yelled for Jamie. He got dish duty for the rest of the week, but those words stuck out to me. Pretty Little Alex. I had a feeling the name would stick. I felt a grin coming. She hated the name yesterday, but it was true.

My hands went to her waist. She sucked in her breath in at my touch and my hands rose, moving gently over her body, rising all the way up to her breast in a caress. This. This woman was mine. She wasn’t a girl. Alex had been through so much. We’d both been through so much, but fuck—I loved her. Asking her to move in with me had been the best idea I had ever had, even though she had to put up with our friends.

“Hey.” Her hand lifted to cup the side of my face. I leaned into the touch and she asked, “What are you thinking?”

“How lucky I am.”

A radiant smile lit up her face. “You are, aren’t you?”

Another laugh left me and I bent down, touching my lips to hers. I wanted to savor this woman and this moment. We were supposed to have the house to ourselves. Everyone was supposed to have left for the weekend and I had plans. The shower. The kitchen table. The living room floor, then the couch, then we’d spread a blanket in front of the fireplace. Hell, even the garage on the tool box. The patio? Was that do-able? Maybe not. Oh—the hot tub. I needed to clean that out, first. Jamie had two girls over the other night. As I kept listing off the places in my head, Alex’s hand fell to her stomach and she groaned, rolling to her side.

“What?” I moved to the side. “What is it?”

“Oh my god.” Another moan. This one sounded worse than the first.

The first bit of panic rose up my throat. “Alex? What’s wrong?” I touched her arm and turned her to her back again so she was looking up at me. “Tell me what’s wrong.”

“I—I think I have my period.” Her hand fell to her pajama shorts and she grimaced, before flinging off the sheets to race for the bathroom.

Her period?

My mind went blank.

The bathroom door slammed shut.

“My god!” she screeched. “I do. I hate being a woman.”

I collapsed back onto the bed. Well. Fuck me.

A second later, the door opened again. I should be the good boyfriend. I should look over, ask her what I needed to do for her, or hell—I should just do it. This wasn’t our first rodeo. Heating pad. Painkillers. And her kindle. Those were the only things she wanted when she was cramping. But, damn. I had so many plans for the day. I was even going to order pizza and eat a slice off of her stomach. My woman. Sex. Pizza. That was my heaven. And beer, but I was in training. No beer for me.

When she didn’t say a word or return to the bed, I looked over. She was standing in the doorway, biting down on her lip as her hands were twisted in her top.

I pushed up, resting on my elbow. “What?”

“The face.” She gestured to me. “How you look right now. It’s priceless.”

I rolled my eyes and raked a hand through my hair, pushing so I was sitting on the edge of the bed. “I had plans, Alex. Great plans. Monumental plans. Shit only guys dream about plans—”

“Shut up.”

“What?”

Then she started laughing and launched herself at me. Pushing me back down on the bed, she straddled me and her hands fell to my shorts. “I was kidding.”

Wait.

She said—“What?” I grabbed her hands so I could sit up, but she grabbed them and pinned them down to the bed, mirroring how I had her earlier.

“I’m. Kidding.” She gave me a wolfish grin, her eyes darkening, and she lowered her mouth to my stomach.

I wasn’t going to get mad. That was the best news ever and Alex wasn’t in the speaking mood anymore. Her mouth started moving south and as she inched my shorts down, I laid back and closed my eyes.

Like I said before—fuck me.

I loved this woman.

Davy Harwood by Tijan

Being empathic is the least of Davy’s problems. She wants to go to college and live a normal life until someone gives her something she doesn’t want. Now she has to deal with the supernatural and a prophecy that no one knows about.

Excerpt Davy Harwood by Tijan

Read the prologue and first FIVE chapters of Davy Harwood!

PROLOGUE

I wasn’t supernaturally inclined to know when vampires were around, but I knew anyway. I was empathic and that meant that I could feel what others felt, I felt what was going on around me. And right now, as I was on top of the Heffler where I volunteered for a crisis hotline, I knew there were eight nearby. I’d been the unfortunate one to answer the call and now I stood there, teetering on the edge with a ‘jumper’ before me. I was keenly aware of the two vamps behind me and the six on the ground. Vampires didn’t usually care about death. I had no idea why they were there, but it didn’t matter at that moment.

“Okay…okay.” I took a deep breath and tried to inch forward.

The jumper was a frail looking girl with inflamed cheeks. Her red curls whisked around her from the wind, which didn’t help our situation at all. She turned, saw me, and her eyes widened. She was the deer in my headlights, but I hoped that I wasn’t the oncoming car to push her over the edge.

“Hi—hello—how are you? No—I mean…” I should have stopped then, but I was the only one from the hotline there. I’d been the last to leave and because of that, I was the only one that heard the phone, answered the phone, and figured out where the girl had called from.

I took another breath, and then said more calmly, “My name’s Davina, but you can call me Davy—if you want.” A part of me waited for the normal ‘Stay away from me or I’ll jump!’, but it didn’t come.

She didn’t say a thing. I saw the tears and that’s what made me pause. She’d been hysterical on the phone. I’d heard the words ‘a guy’, ‘kill myself’, and ‘love.’ My mind leapt to the natural clichéd conclusion. I thought she was going to kill herself over a guy and a part of me felt a little contempt for her. I know, I know — she’s suicidal. I should be sympathetic, but… really—a guy?!

That had been my first reaction, but now I thought differently. This girl wasn’t the suicidal virgin with a love gone reality. I looked into her hazel eyes and saw true agony in this girl. It was real and it blew my breath away for a moment. That was saying a lot.

“Okay.” I needed to settle myself. I needed to plant both feet on the ground and I needed—I looked at her again. The pain was crippling. I could feel it. There was a sense of contentment and resolve in her too. This girl was done. What she was done with, I had no idea, but I felt it. She’d fought a battle, she’d lost, and she was done with it all.

For a moment, I stood in awe of her. I’d had my fair share of trauma and struggle, but I still had hope. This girl had none.

I closed my eyes and opened every sense I had. Every empath I knew would scream against this, but I needed to know what this girl had gone through. Something told me that I needed to know. I lowered my bridge, and I felt myself slip inside of her.

Turmoil. Desolation. Agony.

Worst of all, I felt the surrender. It slammed against me like waves of sleet in a downpour. It actually hurt and I bit my tongue. I wanted to feel more. I wanted to understand so I pushed further. Empaths are advised against this for a reason. If we touch too deep inside a person sometimes a part of us doesn’t come back.

There was something inside of her, something that promised me that it’d be worth it. It was like… I needed to uncover it. Surging forward, I fought past the hopelessness and defeat. Then I reeled back when I touched the core.

There had been a guy. He had loved her. She had loved him… and then… I felt devastation, betrayal, and an end.

I gasped abruptly.

I don’t know what happened, but something had happened. She had loved this guy. She found something and then… It was her decision, which was important. She decided when she’d die… not… I couldn’t feel it anymore.

She gasped. My eyes flew open and I felt a wind propel me backwards. It was as if the universe didn’t want me near this girl. I couldn’t look away. Her eyes wanted to tell me something, something that she didn’t even realize she wanted to say, but she didn’t have the words or she didn’t have the will. Then a single tear rolled down to join the rest and she smiled. It was haunting. Then she let go of the railing. I watched, stricken, but already in expectation as she soared downwards.

Something was off, something reeled inside of me.

Something had not gone according to plan and I’m the kind of girl where I knew that plans should go according to plan! It was usually highly essential, but this—this wasn’t good. Not only for the fact that some part of me still felt connected to her, but there was a universe-world-future issue at stake. I had no idea why I felt that, how I felt it, but I did. I was panicked. The girl had jumped, and it was like the world was now going to end… I gulped.

Carter Reed 2 by Tijan

Carter bought his way out of the mafia to protect Emma, but when an old ghost returns to the Mauricio Family, a chain of events starts that can harm everyone. While Carter must decide to return to the Mauricio Family or not, a face that is oddly familiar to Emma comes into her life. She’s given the chance to discover more about her family while tensions between the rivaling Mauricio and Bertal Family comes to a head in an explosive way. The truce is officially off, and when the two worlds collide, Carter’s decision is made.

He didn’t start this war, but he will end it.

He will do anything to protect Emma.

Excerpt Carter Reed 2 by Tijan

We’d been learning how to shoot for a couple of months now. It had been Theresa’s idea, and these sessions had started to replace our wine nights. It had also been her idea to have Noah be our instructor. Carter was the better shot, but Theresa still liked to keep her distance from him. He still made her uneasy.

Amanda had asked her about it one night at their apartment when I’d gone to the bathroom. I stopped in the hallway when I’d overheard Theresa explain, “It’s not that I don’t like him. It’s just…he’s a killer, Amanda. He’s dangerous. I know he loves her, and I know if anyone is going to protect her, it will be him, but…” She’d sighed. “I don’t know. He’s known as the Cold Killer. It’s hard to get past that, even though I know Emma loves him so much.”

Amanda had asked, “Are you worried for her?”

“No.” She’d hesitated. “I mean…maybe. I’m not worried for her from him, but because of him. He’s with the mafia.”

“She said he’s out.”

“Yeah, well, is anyone really out?”

Amanda had replied, “She wasn’t in trouble before because of him. Emma and I did that all on our own.”

“I know. I really do, and I feel bad, but I’m just on edge with the guy. He’s deadly. Can’t you see it in his eyes?” Theresa got up for the kitchen. “I need a refill. You?”

I had melted backward, back into the bathroom. When she’d crossed the hallway, the bathroom door was shut.

Glancing over at her now, I remembered how her smiles had seemed more forced that night, her laughter a little louder, and the secretive looks she’d sent Amanda’s way. They were roommates. They were going to talk about me. That was obvious, but I’d been hurt, though I knew I shouldn’t have been.

Theresa worried about me. I tried to keep telling myself it was as simple as that.

I tried.
