Forbidden by Tia Louise

I have one job: Get close and take him out. The problem is, I want more.

I was barely five when I lost my brother; seven when my father was murdered.
Overnight, I was taken by my mysterious uncle, grafted into a world of crime I didn’t understand and couldn’t escape.

The first ten years, I did my best to blend in.
The next four, I reinvented myself, growing stronger, searching for answers.
Now I have one assignment—take down the man who knows our secrets.

Professor Dirk Winston is my target, and I’m expected to be a good soldier, disguised as a good student.
Only he’s not the passive bookworm I expect.
He’s intense hazel eyes, ultra controlled, and focused on his work.

But I’ve got plans of my own, and this handsome professor is going to do more than fulfill my assignment.
He’s going to help me get revenge.

(FORBIDDEN is a small-town, student-professor romance with a thrilling twist. No cheating. No cliffhanger.)

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (Hamiltown Heat Book 3) by Tia Louise

Can you love what you can’t touch?

No touching.
It’s the only rule in this business, and trust me, with my money and power, “hands off” is not a problem.
I don’t need the women I employ to satisfy my needs…
Until her.
She’s different than the other girls, innocent, intoxicating, impossibly seductive.
I can’t take my eyes off her, and it’s not long before hot looks turn into hotter touches.
I’m the boss, after all, I call the shots.
And nothing’s more fun than breaking the rules.

I came to this country to pursue my dream… but it was a lie, a scam that quickly fell apart.
Desperate, I took the only job I could with no work visa.
They promised no one would know.
They promised no touching.
Until I saw him.
Dark scruff shading an arrogant grin, lean muscles stretching expensive fabric, eyes like twilight sending electricity from my stomach to my toes.
He’s my boss, but the way he watches makes me do dirty things.
For his eyes only, I’m uninhibited, experienced, a seductress.
Only, our game turns dangerous when a watcher threatens everything, and my hands-on hero vows to save me.

(FOR YOUR EYES ONLY is a STAND-ALONE, extra-spicy romantic suspense with forbidden touches, organized crime, and an untouched heroine. No cheating. No cliffhanger.)

Filthy by Tia Louise

Good girls are saved by princes, but my savior is a monster.

After my father died and my family splintered, I became a target, a pawn in a game I didn’t know I was playing.
Then he appeared—dark, dangerous, tormented, and always just within reach.
He makes me come alive. He makes me remember.
He makes me feel something I lost years ago: Safe.
And he thinks he can keep me at arm’s length.

Once upon a time I was a hero, until the sins of my father caught up with me, and I was forced into darkness.
I should’ve died in that fire. Instead, I served evil men, until I risked it all by walking away.
Now I’m a wanted man. At any time, I could be taken down for what I owe.
What I don’t expect to find in my hiding place is her—broken, beautiful, so damn tempting.
I was hired to keep her safe. I shouldn’t touch her with my filthy hands.
But every day it gets harder, then she starts sneaking into my bed.

Together, we’re filthy, but together, we can find our way through the flames.

(FILTHY is a stand-alone, bodyguard, romantic suspense novel. It contains a fierce, wounded protector and the damaged young woman he’s hired to save. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

FEARLESS by Tia Louise

He’s intense, he’s fearless, and he’ll stop at nothing to save her.

My job is to protect the innocent, but Blake van Hamilton has never been innocent.
With killer curves, silky brown hair, and silvery-blue eyes, she’s been an inconvenient object of my lust since we were teens.
Now I’ve been hired to guard her against a band of criminals who want her money, and maybe even her life.
I’m the last person she wants helping her.
Blake van Hamilton hates me, but it won’t stop me from doing my job.

Hutch Winston may be sexy as hell, but I won’t fall for his white knight, alpha-protector act.
Not since he used it to ruin my life at sixteen.
But when my best friend turns up dead and my uncle goes missing, Hutch is my only option.
Moving into his family estate is the real test.
It gets worse when I accidentally see him naked in the shower, moaning my name.
I have to keep my head and my heart in line—not to mention my body.
Every part of me wants him in every possible way.
I may be fearless, but how I feel about him scares me most of all.

(FEARLESS is a stand-alone, enemies-to-lovers romantic suspense novel. It contains an insanely hot alpha protector and the curvy, feisty socialite he’s hired to protect. The forced proximity angle sets it all ablaze. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

Scout

“It’s been a long time since we danced together.”
She doesn’t look up, but her smile grows. “It was homecoming, first dance of the year.”
“And the last. I still can’t believe you didn’t go to prom with me. All high school romances end at the prom.”
Her nose curls. “We were not a high school romance.”
“We might’ve been. The high school quarterback, all around hot guy who falls for the quiet, bookish future librarian. It’s the perfect setup for a movie.”
“All-around hot guy…” Her brown eyes roll adorably, and I’m glad the tension seems to have melted. “I’m not a future librarian.”
“I know.” I think about that night. “You did promise to have my back, though.”
“Until you broke the rules and kissed me.”
“It was a really good kiss. We should try it again to see if we’ve still got it.”
She steps out of my arms. “I’ve got a job to finish. Then I’m leaving Fireside.”
“Okay.” I shrug. “I’m not going to be here for long. Maybe we could pass the time together. Hang out.” I lean down to catch her eye. “What do you say, Tink?”
“Tink?”
“Tinkerbell. You remind me of her.”
“Does that make you Peter Pan, the eternal man-child?”
“I’m no child.” It comes out a bit hungrier than I intended, and her cheeks turn red so fast.
Should I say oops? I’m sure as hell not taking it back.
“I’ve got to go.”
She does it, too. She walks off, leaving me alone on the dance floor…

BLURB

A smart and sexy romance about a grumpy single dad on a mission of revenge, and the girl he can’t leave behind by USA Today bestselling author Tia Louise.

Hope

I blame the alcohol.
I lost my restaurant business, was forced to sell my dad’s cherished 1967 Chevy Impala, and I got a little drunk.
Now I’m waking up with the hottest, angriest guy I’ve ever seen, speeding down the highway like a bat out of hell.
Ice-blue eyes hit mine with stomach-clenching force… and he swerves onto the shoulder, ready to kick me out.
Needless to say, our romance doesn’t start out sweet.

J.R.

Two years ago, I hugged my little boy goodbye and told him I’d be right back.
Next thing I knew, I was arrested and sent to prison for a crime I didn’t commit.
Until they let me out early…

Now I’m headed home to confront the man who put me away.
A lie put me behind bars, and I’m ready to find the truth.
I don’t have time for a sexy girl with pale blonde hair and bright blue eyes stowed away on the backseat of my new car.
My mission is to get my son back and clear my name.
Love is not on the agenda.
It never is, though, is it?

(THIS MUCH IS TRUE is a single-dad, opposites attract, STAND-ALONE romance. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

Excerpt This Much is True by Tia Louise

Hope
His dark brow is lowered, and the muscle in the side of his jaw moves like he’s deep in thought. He grips the top of the steering wheel with one hand, flexing a powerful forearm, and even in my hungover state, I feel a tingle low in my belly.
He’s all man, commanding and powerful, and I’m not sure I can look him straight in the eye.
Reaching out, I’m wobbly as I clutch the seat in front of me, easing myself to a sitting position. “Where am I?”
Light blue eyes hit mine in the rearview mirror, and it’s a jolt of electricity. The car jerks wildly to the right, and I go flying, slamming against the door with an oof.
“What the fuck?” He jerks the wheel to the left to get us back on track, and I bolt to the open window.
The entire bottle of wine I consumed last night is making a reappearance.
I hang out the door, as my stomach turns itself inside out, and my shoulders heave. Tears sting my eyes, and I’m so embarrassed.
I whimper, gripping the metal side of the door as the car quickly slows to a stop. I’m sure my face is a wreck, and I pull the sleeve of my coat over my hand, trying to dab at my eyes.
The driver’s door slams, and I hear the sharp crunch of boots on gravel just before the passenger’s side door jerks open. I almost fall.
“Get out.” It’s a sharp order, just short of a growl.
He’s waiting, and I’m doing my best to breathe normally.
“I’m sorry… I—”
A grip like a vise clamps around my upper arm, and he drags me out of the vehicle, dropping me in the dirt on the side of the road.
“What are you doing in this car?” He isn’t shouting, but anger crackles in his tone.
I say the first thing in my mind. “This is my car—”
“No, this is my car. I bought it.”
“Oh, God.” I rock back on my ass facing Metallicar.
He’s right, and I’m afraid I’m going to be sick again. I really don’t want to puke in front of this wildly gorgeous, hostile man…

Deacon
“You’re all wet.” She holds the lapels of my jacket, pushing it off my shoulders. “Were you riding in the rain?”
Shrugging out of the soaked garment, I put it at the base of her window. “I didn’t want anyone to recognize my car.”
She goes to a large, stone bathroom, returning with a plush, white towel. “Here. Give me your shirt.”
Catching the hem, I whip it over my head, and when our eyes meet, she blinks quickly as if she’s stunned.
Her cheeks flush, and I’m acutely aware we’ve only been together once since my homecoming. The memory of our white-hot reunion in the tower has my cock rising to attention.
“It’s not the first time you’ve seen me without a shirt, beautiful.” I can’t help teasing her.
She shakes her head and goes to her bedroom door. “I’ll put this in the sink to dry. Give me your pants, too.”
The smooth click of the lock changes the temperature in the room. My body aches for hers. I’m ready to pull her to me and devour her.
“I haven’t been here five minutes, and you’ve already got me naked.” I hold out my hand as she returns. “Come here.”
She walks straight into my arms, and I hug her tightly against my chest. Rubbing her back, I take a long inhale of her jasmine scented hair. “Are you okay?”
“I’m much better now that you’re here.” She looks up at me, and I can almost make out her soft breasts beneath the thin material of her long-sleeved tee. She’s so damn sexy.
I scan her shapely legs in short white shorts, searching for any sign of bruising or injury. “Did that guy hurt you?”
“No.” A sad little smile touches her lips. “I’m so sorry, Deacon. For tonight, for not telling you—”
“Don’t.” Reaching up, I place my finger lightly against her lips, pulling her to me again. “It doesn’t matter. I’m sorry I had to leave you that way. I didn’t want to ruin the party—”
“I understood.”
“But I had to come here tonight. I needed to see you, to know you’re okay.”
“I’m okay.” She lifts her chin, and I lean down to kiss her again.
Her lips part, and our tongues curl together. It’s electric and need shoots straight to my cock. My hands go under the hem of her shirt, finding the smooth, warm skin of her lower back, pressing her hips to mine.
She exhales a soft noise, and I break the kiss, looking around the room. “This is a nice place.”
“The bed’s big enough for both of us.” Her palms slide against mine, threading our fingers, and she takes a step backwards, drawing me towards the bed with her. “Everyone’s sleeping over. You might as well, too.”
“Sounds risky.”
“I’m not afraid.” She lifts her shirt over her head, and her soft breasts are bare, tipped with pale light. My mouth waters. “I want you to stay.”
“I’ll do whatever you want.”

Stay by Tia Louise

Stephen Hastings is a control freak.
He’s arrogant. He’s smart as a whip and sexy AF.
He has too much money. He’s bossy, and he’s usually right.
All I saw were his clear blue eyes, tight butt, and ripped torso.
I gladly handed him my V-card that night, ten years ago.
I was so stupid. I swore I’d never be that stupid again…

Emmy Barton works for a dry cleaner?
Yes, that Emmy Barton—long, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pretty smile…
Sexy little body. Smart mouth.
She was the only girl who interested me, but I was leaving to be an officer in the Navy.

Now I’m home, running my business. My life is perfectly ordered until I bump into her, divorced and struggling to make ends meet.
I hate seeing her like this. I hate that she married Burt “The Dick” Dickerson. What an a–hole.

She says she hates me, but when we fight, it’s all heat and lust.
I won’t leave her this way.
She will let me help her and her son. She will stay…
It’s a thin line between love and hate, and this line is on fire.

Emmy
I’m quiet a few moments while he waits for my assent. I can’t find a reason to say no and only one massive reason for saying yes. “I’ll marry you, but I won’t share a bed with you.”
For whatever reason, my answer pricks the tension between us like a pin to a balloon. His shoulders drop, and the firm set of his jaw eases. Even his angry brow relaxes some. “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”
“We won’t come to it because we’re not going to it. The road to it has orange barrels and a sawhorse. And railroad crossing bars.”
He exhales a chuckle. “I feel like we’ve had this conversation before. Just before I had you on my bar, eating you for dessert.”
“Don’t…” My voice breaks off.
One eyebrow cocks, and his blue eyes smolder. “I promise, I will never make you do anything you don’t want to do.”
“It feels like you’re making me now.”
Only, it’s not quite true. He’s throwing me a lifeline. He’s charging in here to be my savior… granted in the most unorthodox way I could have ever imagined. Still…
“The first thing you told me about Eli involved this surgery and how much you wanted it for him. You told me Burt was against it, and it’s not covered by your insurance.”
My stomach is tight, and I can’t tell anymore if the energy coursing through my veins is shock or adrenaline or excitement. Eli has a chance at a cure!
“You’re nothing if not unexpected, Mr. Hastings. Personally, I haven’t decided if you’re a hero or a bully.”
“I’m not a hero. You said so yourself.” He puts his hands on my upper arms just before he pulls me against his chest. It’s a warm and comforting hug. He smells so good, and I slide my hands around his narrow waist. His deep voice vibrates against my cheek. “I care about Eli. I want to make this right. You will not argue with me. You’ll do as I say.”
My jaw clenches. Him saying those words makes me want to argue.
He doesn’t give me the chance. “Stop being stubborn and say yes.”
Looking down, I give his proposal one final thought before I concede. “Okay, Yes. I’ll marry you. For your money…”

Melissa

“The water’s nice,” I said, leaning against the wall beside Derek.

He nodded. “Refreshing.”

“This morning I was thinking how little we know about each other.”

His eyes were still on me, traveling from my face to my hair then back to my mouth, where they lingered. My lips tingled for his touch.

“What do you want to know?” His tone had become low and sexy.

“I don’t know,” I said, trying to think of neutral things we could share. Questions that wouldn’t lead to subjects I didn’t want to discuss. “What’s your favorite color?”

“Red,” he answered quickly.

I smiled, and my cheeks warmed. “Seriously.”

He leaned forward, returning my smile as he lowered his arms into the water. “I’ve never really had a favorite color until now.”

I turned and bent my elbows on the side, resting them on the mosaic tiles leading into the pool. We were so close, my upper arm touched his shoulder. It was electric.

“Okay,” I said slowly, thinking. “What was your favorite game as a boy?”

“Football.”

A little laugh escaped my lips, and I lay my cheek on my forearms. “You’re not giving me anything memorable.”

His hand drifted under the water to my side, where he lightly ran the back of his fingers down my skin from my ribs to my hip. My eyes closed as desire flooded into my lower abdomen, and I fought a moan.

“I’ll tell you something memorable,” he said in that sensual voice. “But I’d rather do it in private.”

My eyes opened slowly, and I wondered if he could read my thoughts. He turned and pushed against the tiles, his muscles flexing as he rose out of the water. Little droplets ran down his torso, and an image of me licking them off almost made me burst into flames. I quickly followed him back to our things on the lounge chairs. Our wine still sat on the small table between them.

“Should we take our drinks upstairs?” I said.

“I was waiting for you to ask.”

Mindy

The window is open a crack when I reach it. It slides without a sound, and I slip inside.
Sawyer’s sitting up with his back against the headboard, but his eyes are closed. I hear his rhythmic breathing, and I know he’s fallen asleep. It doesn’t matter.
I go to the bed, leaving my jacket on the chair. The night is warm, and he’s not wearing a shirt. Silver moonlight deepens the lines of muscle in his arms, his broad shoulders. Sawyer works so hard, lifting crates of peaches, hauling boxes to the truck. He has the best body.
I can’t remember when he went from being the boy who held my hand and dried my tears to the man I can’t live without. I only know he’s owned my heart as long as I’ve been able to love.
Lifting the thin comforter, I slip in beside him and rest my cheek against his warm chest.
“Mm…” His voice vibrates against my skin. “Hey.”
Strong arms go around me, and I close my eyes, letting the warmth of his embrace relax my racing insides. I hold him, inhaling his scent of soap, cedar, and Sawyer.
“I tried not to wake you.” I sound so small.
“How you doing?” I love his voice, the low drawl, the touch of honey in his Louisiana accent.
“Same as every year.”
“I know, baby girl.” A large, callused hand slides up and down my bare arm, scratching my skin, waking my insides. “It’ll pass.”
Only the thinnest cotton nightgown separates my naked body from his, and I ache for him to want me again. One time will never be enough, and it’s been so long.
Stretching my legs, arching my back, I search for his mouth in the darkness. My fingers fumble to his muscular neck, and I thread them in his soft hair, curling them and pulling his face to mine.
I don’t know if it’s because he’s drowsy or if it’s the darkness, but I manage to capture his full lips briefly. I push them apart, and our tongues meet. He kisses me back, before pulling away and settling me down at his side.
“You need to sleep.”
Squeezing my eyes shut against the tears, I nod and return to my place, sheltered at his side, under his arm, my heart irrevocably devoted to him…

Make You Mine by Tia Louise

(Second-chance romance, forbidden love, best friend’s little sister)

A promise written on a coaster.
A lost night in a dark room.
Grayson Cole was my brother’s best friend.
He was all of my firsts.
Then he went away…

Drew Harris was just a kid, a senior in high school, my best friend’s little sister.
They said she was too young to know her feelings.
I was too old to have them, so I left to join the military.

Four years passed.
Loss, injury, angry words I can never take back.
I’m home, but I’m not the same.
Neither is she.

Now she’s a woman with flashing blue eyes, long blonde hair, and gorgeous curves.
She’s the same sweet smile, the same sassy mouth…
I could never say No to her before.
I should say No for her sake.
She deserves better than what I’ve become, scarred and damaged.

“They told me to stay away from you.
I went away to try… God, I tried.
Now everything has changed. I’m back, and
I’ll do whatever it takes to make you mine…”

(A full-length, STAND-ALONE CONTEMPORARY romance about first love, redemption, and finding your way home. No cheating; No cliffhangers.)

Gray

“I dreamed about you every night.” My confession makes her smile.

It’s the truth. It’s the only truth I know—if she’s in danger, I’ll carry her out. If she’s crying, I hold her until she stops. If she wants me… I can’t tell her no.

It’s been that way since she was just a cute little kid. It’s been this way since last summer when everything changed. I tried to fight it. She was only seventeen. I was almost twenty-one… Her daddy would’ve shot me dead and buried my body.

I tried to date… One time. It was a fucking disaster. I could only see her, taste her, want her. Only Drew gets me this way.

At night, I’d lie in bed and remember the first time we were together. Two triangles of white fabric covered her small breasts. I could see the curves at the bottoms and sides. They were perfect handfuls, high and pointed.

She looked at me as if she knew what she was doing to me in that white bikini. I’m sure I looked like an awestruck fool.

Then she blinked and tucked her chin into her shoulder, taunting me. Her hair swished down her back, ending at her slim waist. Her flat stomach led to round hips, long, silky legs. Her toenails were painted bright white, and I wanted to put them in my mouth. I’ve never wanted to do that.

I’ve never wanted to devour someone before.

My dick was so hard.

“I dreamed of you touching me.” Her voice drips with desire, and just like that, I have a steel rod in my pants. “Will you touch me now?”

“Drew…” I should tell her no.

Being here with her is dangerous.

If Danny found out… He’d say what I know. I’m too old for her. She’s too young. I should give her a chance to grow up. On top of that, I have nothing, no name, no status. I’m an orphan raised by a nobody.

I’m working to change it, but I haven’t yet.

She takes my hand and places it on the top of her thigh, at the hem of her red dress. “Touch me here,” she whispers, leaning into my ear.

She owns me in this moment, and she knows it.

She knows holding her is the greatest feeling in the world. It’s like coming home.

Her hand guides mine higher, sliding up the smooth skin of her leg. I feel her body tremble, and when my fingers touch the soft folds of her sex, I almost come in my pants. She’s not wearing underwear.

“Drew.” My voice is a hungry noise, the growl of a starving man.

“Yes,” she sighs. “Touch me, Gray.”

Her nails cut into my shoulders as I trace my fingers along the damp slit, teasing the tiny strip of curls, dipping the tip of one finger into her tight, clenching core. One more, and she moans. She’s so wet. I want to taste her.

“Gray…” Her hands go to my waist, pulling at the button on my jeans. She has my pants undone, and my erection is pointing right at her.

“Hang on.” I stand, fishing out my wallet, finding a condom.

I turn to the side to roll it on my aching dick.

As much as I dream of her carrying my baby, I know neither one of us is ready for that responsibility. Hell, I’m leaving for fucking Africa in less than two days. How I’ll survive four years without her, I don’t have a fucking clue, but I won’t do what they say I will. I won’t “ruin her” and run off.

My hands are on her again, lifting her by the ass and carrying her so her back is against the wall. Her mouth is on my neck, her soft tongue touching my hot skin as she kisses her way higher. I’m about to explode.

“I need you inside me.” Her lips graze my ear before she kisses it, and I don’t hesitate.

Lowering her onto my dick, my knees almost give out. My mind tilts at the sensation of her hot, tight, and clenching around my shaft. I have to hold still or I’ll come. Her thighs tense around my waist, and she struggles to move, letting out a low moan.

“Gray…” I feel her tremble, her muscles spasm, and my brow tightens.

I raise my head to find her eyes. “Did you come?”

Her nose curls, and she stretches up and down on me. “I came when you touched me.” She grips my shoulders, pulling up to kiss me. “Do it hard—the way you like it. I want to feel you. I want to remember you were here.”

Jesus. My eyes close, and I lower my mouth to hers. Her lips part, and our tongues curl together. I start to move, a deep thrust, and there’s no turning back.

“Drew…” It’s a ragged groan, and her body breaks again.

I’m relentless, driven by a need that never lets me go. Her small breasts bounce against my chest with every hard thrust. She moans, and her back arches, more clenching around my dick, pulling me further in.

“Oh,” she gasps, and I brace myself.

This is better than any drug. She’s my crack cocaine.

My hands grip her hips, pulling us together again and again, until I break, pressing her to the wall, filling that condom with every pulse, the way I dream of filling her, of putting my baby into her, of having all the things I want with her, a home, a family.

I’m breathing hard. My eyes are closed, and her fingers trace my neck, thread into my hair. She kisses my jaw, my cheek. The sensations consume me, overpower me. I hold onto her as I fumble my way back to Earth. I got lost in heaven.

Mine… Mine… The word echoes in my ears on every heartbeat. What will it take to make her mine?

Wait for Me by Tia Louise
Dear Taron,
I should have told you this before…

Dear Taron,
Is there a time-limit on forgiveness?
If there is, I haven’t reached it…

Dear Taron,
I still love you…

A letter never sent.
Heck, I never even finished it.

Taron Rhodes was my brother’s best friend.
He was sexy as sin.
But he was more than that…
He was ponytail-pulling, ice down your shirt teasing, throw you in the lake screaming…
Strong, tanned arms and bright green eyes over a heart-stopping, naughty grin…
Did I mention his tight end?
I gave him my first real kiss, my heart, my everything.
I said I’d wait for him…

I’m still waiting, because Taron Rhodes is still the man of my dreams,
And I have a secret that has his bright green eyes.

Noel LaGrange stole my heart when she was only eighteen —pushing me off a flatbed and calling me a city slicker.
Her brother Sawyer would kick my ass if he knew how many times we made out that summer, how close we got.

Everything changed when Sawyer and I joined the military.
We were honorably discharged, but I didn’t go to her.
Instead, I went back to the city… where no amount of money, no amount of pills can heal this wound.
Only her whiskey eyes and dark hair, her slim arms and her sweet scent, give me hope.
I broke her heart just as surely as I broke mine, but I’m going back to make it right.
If she’s still waiting…

Noel
I’m starting my reply when a tapping on my window makes me throw the phone on my bed. Akela doesn’t even flinch. My eyes fly to the glass, and Taron is outside, smiling like always.
I go to him and slide it open. “Hey.”
Everything feels quieter tonight.
“Hey…” He swings his legs into the room and pulls me between them like always. “You’re not making any lotions or lip balms?”
My hands are on his shoulders, and I study my fingernails. “I don’t feel like it.”
He doesn’t say anything, and I steal a glance at his face. He’s looking away, and he seems to be struggling with something.
My sadness melts into anger. Was he hoping I’d be an easy lay before he left for South America? Is he trying to figure out how to let me down now? I don’t let anyone make me feel inferior. Ever. Dolly Parton says a strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and winks.
“You’d better head on back to the cottage now. Morning comes early.” Mentally, I pull up my big-girl panties and prepare to push him out the window, out of my heart, when he catches my arms.
“I’ve been thinking all evening about what you said.” His blue-green eyes are so earnest, I almost feel ashamed for thinking bad thoughts about him. “I can’t take that from you and leave, Noel. It’s the same as asking you to wait for me. It’s not fair…”
“You didn’t ask me to wait for you.” My voice is quiet, and our gazes mingle in a swirl of longing and sadness and reality hitting us in the face.
“It doesn’t mean I don’t want to.” His voice drops lower. His hands grasp mine, and I lower my eyes to them—long fingers, neatly trimmed nails. He’s gorgeous, top to bottom.
Lifting my chin, my voice is sassy, defiant. “Whatever happens between us is as much my decision as it is yours.”
“Yes, but I have more experience with this than you do.”
“You’ve slept with a lot of women?”
“No,” he answers fast. “When it happens, it matters. Especially the first time.”
“Well, thank you for being so considerate.” I start to move away. The last thing I need is another know-it-all guy telling me how I feel.
“Stop.” Taron pulls me firmly against his chest. “Be mad at me if you want—I’m telling you the truth. I won’t hurt you.”
I see the break in his eyes, and it breaks something in me. I understand deeply he’s not rejecting me. After all we’ve shared, I don’t know how I could ever believe he was.
Reaching out, I thread my fingers in his hair, looking deeply into his blue-green eyes. “I’ve waited so long for you to appear. You can’t hurt me.”
Strong hands cup my cheeks, and he pulls my mouth to his. Our lips part, and our tongues entwine. Tears heat my closed eyes, but I won’t allow them to escape. I won’t give him any reason to think I’m not strong enough for this, even if the idea of saying goodbye leaves my insides in shreds.
He pulls back, looking deep in my eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
With that, he’s out the window, heading back across the yard. As I watch him go, I can’t help thinking, Yes, you will. You’ll see me every day as long as you’re here.

Boss of Me by Tia Louise

They warned me not to take this job.
They said you were ruthless, impossible to please…
I said I was better than them.
I wouldn’t fall for your charm, your arrogance, or how sexy you fill out that suit.
I wouldn’t fall for your deep brown eyes or the way that muscle moves in your square jaw when you’re pissed.

I said I could resist you.
I was wrong…

“Do I make you nervous?”
“A little bit.”
Her confession makes me smile; it makes me think of doing dirty things with her. I move my hands along her waist, finding the skin beneath her sweater. She inhales sharply when I touch her, and I pause.
“I have a confession.” My voice is low.
“What?”
“I’d like to kiss you again.”
“You would?” She leans closer, her hands moving higher to my shoulders. “You don’t think that’s a bad idea?”
My face is lower, closer to her lips. “What do you think?”
“I think we work together.” Her eyes are fixed on my mouth, her lips seeming fuller as she speaks. “I think it’s risky. It could change how we think of each other.”
“How do you think of me?” My lips are at her ear, and I press them to the side of her neck. I feel the little pulse beneath her skin beating like a rabbit.
“I haven’t decided.” She lifts her chin, and I kiss her cheek, making my way closer to her mouth. “I was told you’re the devil.”
Blue eyes meet mine, and the chemistry between us is alive. “Do you believe that?”
“I don’t know…”
