Endgame (Ocean Bay #1) by Chloe Walsh

My name is Mercy James and I’ve always had a three-point plan.
1.Don’t fall in love in high-school.
2.Get through senior year and snag a full-ride scholarship to college.
3.Get the hell away from my irresponsible mother.
I didn’t think that was too much to ask for, and I’ve worked damn hard to make it a reality.
Until my mother went and did the unthinkable!
She’s pregnant.
Yep, the woman-child only went and got herself knocked-up by a man who lives on the other side of the country.
As if it wasn’t bad enough to uproot my life six weeks before senior year, Mom’s new beau comes with baggage.
A sweet stepsister, Amelia.
And the b*stard of all b*stards, Rourke.
Rourke is a senior like me, and he doesn’t want me in his town, much less his home. He’s also hell bent on making sure I know it.
Thing is, I don’t want to be there either, and if Rourke expects me to swan in and kiss his ass to make him like me, he has another thing coming.
I’m nobody’s bitch and he’s about to learn that…

Endgame is a feisty standalone romance. Due to its explicit content, bad language, and graphic sexual content, Endgame is recommended for mature readers of seventeen years and above.

Endgame is an Enemies to Lovers standalone romance. Mercedes “Mercy” James is a 17-year-old girl who had to raise herself from an early age. Her mother always chased a new man all the time, but now she has done the unthinkable: she ended up pregnant and both of them have to go live with her new husband.

But while she has to do this, it’s still 1 year until she goes to collage and she’ll have to do this last thing until she’s free. What she had not planned is meeting Rourke and Amelia, her new stepbrother and sister. While Amelia is sweet, Rourke plans to make her life a living hell.

“Disgust, loathing, disappointment, mild boredom, and pure hatred. He wasn’t going to accept me, I realized. Well, fuck him.”

Now, what Rourke had not planned is being attracted to her, and that she will be a match to his bullying. He will call her Six, because she’s the sixth sibling they had so far; his father is as bad as her mother.
When the parents leave for an extended honeymoon, things will turn for the worst until feelings will have to be involved.

“You asked me once what my endgame was…Ask me the question, Six.”
“What’s your endgame, Rourke?”
“You. You are my endgame, Six.”

This book reminds me of Abbi Glines’ series “Fallen too far” or Erin Watt’s “The Royals”. If you’re a fan on one or the other, read them.

Hotshot Doc by R.S. Grey

A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.

Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world—really, just a swell guy!—on the off chance he’s within earshot.

I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway…half-hidden behind a plant.

Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.

That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him—the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears—might just be reciprocated.

It’s fine.
I’m fine.

I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the supply closet. (Well, no more of those.)

What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

HOTSHOT DOC is a full-length romantic comedy. For a limited time, I’ve also included an excerpt from my #1 bestseller ANYTHING YOU CAN DO!

I love all of RS Grey’s books. If you’re in a mood for a standalone romance novel, pick one of hers and it will be fantastic.

Dr. Russell is known throughout the hospital as the most uptight and cocky surgeon. Everyone avoids him, but now Bailey’s wonderful doctor will retire, and she’s left with little choice.

She needs to “man” up and by doing that she gets assigned to Matt, aka Dr. Russell, the most beautiful man on Earth. The thing is she’s had a small crush on him, but that has to be kept in secret because she cannot lose her job.

Bailey became the guardian of her little sister and doesn’t have the luxury to be picky on her work.

Matt has a problem. He can’t seem to have an assistant to last. Worse, they say they need therapy after working for him. But Bailey’s different. She’s extremely well prepared and meets his needs.

But his needs now have shifted, and he can’t seem to ignore the chemistry between them anymore.

Even though they started on the wrong foot, they have a mutual respect of their work etiquette.

5 star read for me! Loved every minute of it.

You Can Have Manhattan by P. Dangelico

You are cordially invited to the worst wedding of the century.

Sydney Evans is no stranger to hard work. It’s the one constant in her life. And with no family or friends to speak of it’s been easy to pour everything she has into her career as general counsel for Blackstone Holdings.

She wants for nothing. Until her boss offers her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. All she has to do in return is marry his good-for-nothing son.

Scott Blackstone used be a party whore. Pardon, party animal. He hasn’t been that guy in a long time though. Not since he moved to Wyoming, bought a failing cattle ranch, and turned it into a profitable business.

All is good. Until a phone call from his father threatens the quiet, simple life he’s built. Marry or lose everything. And to a woman who can’t stand him, no less. Well, Scott is not going down without a fight. He’s never going back to Manhattan. Not if he can help it.

Title: You Can Have Manhattan

What I liked more about his book is that both main characters are strongly willed.

While Scott Blackstone is the black sheep of the family, Sydney Evans is the successor his father never had. None of his children want his legacy, and on his dying days he wants Sydney to run the company.

She is also very, very smart.

In order for her not to have any problems from his board, she needs to marry his estranged son, Scott.

Everything seemed ok, but Scott doesn’t make it any easier. He thinks she keeps his father’s side and is onboard his plan.

Sydney meets Scoot in their early 20s, when he was a hard partier so her opinion about him is the same ~10 years later. Now, in his 30s, Scott changed and has built a farm on his own. He still doesn’t want his father’s company and his party days are long over.

He accepts their planned marriage but makes it hard on Sydney.

This is a slow and powerful build up and I remember staying on the edge of my seat in the last 20% of the book.

This book is one of her best ones and I totally recommend it.

Outmatched by Kristen Callihan and Samantha Young

What happens when a boxer finds chemistry with a geek?

Parker Brown can’t believe she needs to hire a fake boyfriend. When she landed her dream job in renewable energy, she thought she’d be entering a world at the forefront of progressive thinking. But the head boss prefers to promote employees who are “settled.” Thankfully, she’s found the perfect candidate, a fellow intellectual looking for some quick cash. What Parker gets is his protective big brother—Rhys Morgan. The tall, muscled ex-boxer with a foul mouth shows up just as her boss does, and now she’s stuck with the manipulative jerk.

Responsibility weighs heavily on Rhys. Now permanently out of the ring, he’s trying to hold together his late father’s gym and keep his younger brother, Dean, on the straight and narrow. To save Dean from himself, Rhys takes his place, ready to give this society girl a piece of his mind. Instead, he finds an opportunity. Even though they can hardly stand each other, posing as Parker’s boyfriend is a win-win deal. She gets to keep her job, and he’ll charm her star-struck boss into sponsoring his gym.

Problem is, they can barely keep their hands off each other. And what started as an easy deal isn’t so easy anymore. Because what future can a rough ex-boxer, afraid to open his heart, and a polished society geek, who has sworn off real relationships, possibly have?

They say opposites attract. These opposites are about to combust on impact.

OMG, I loved Rhys and Parker. This book was a lot of fun and I enjoyed my time reading it.

Samantha Young is a go-to author for me so when I saw her new book I grabbed it in a heartbeat.

Rhys Morgan is a boxer who retired early after his life long friend was unfortunately killed in a matched, leaving a wife and a kid. The fact that he’s known as Rhys “The Widowmaker” Morgan, is no help at all.

After his dad passed away, Morgan found out his money were gone because they were gambled on Jake when he lost his life. Now he needs to find ways to save his gym.

Parker Brown needs to be in a fake relationship because she’s the only female at her company and being a new hire, her boss only keeps committed people. She hires Dean, Rhys baby brother takes the deal, but she gets Rhys instead.

He goes to confront her but sees the opportunity for sponsorship from her boss. It’s a win – win for both of them. That is until feelings are involved.

While reading this book, him – gigantic and her – petite I kept imagining Game of Thrones’ The Hound and his wife.

Anyway, fantastic read, I totally recommend it!

His Royal Highness by R.S. Grey

I’ve spent eight years wishing I’d fall out of love with Derek Knightley. Blowing out birthday candles, chasing after shooting stars, making it rain spare change into mall fountains—every time it’s the same wish: forget about Derek.

But the day he walks back into my life, I realize there are two things time has yet to soften: my feelings for him and his chiseled jawline.

It’s infuriating that my heart still races when he walks into a room. I refuse to fall prey to old unrequited love, so I decide the less I’m around him, the better. Avoidance is key.

Unfortunately, Derek isn’t going to make it easy. As a teenager, I would have crawled on my hands and knees to attract his attention. Now I can’t seem to escape it.

I’m not sure why he’s bothering. He’s not just out of my league—he’s out of my tax bracket. As the sole heir to the Knightley Company, he’s as close to American royalty as you can get. As for me, I’m just a part-time princess at Knightley’s flagship magical theme park.

I spend my days playing make-believe, but Derek has no use for fairy tales. His unwavering confidence makes it clear he thinks I’ll surrender in the end.

He’s just biding his time.
Making me sweat.

His Royal Highness always gets what he wants.
And he wants me.

HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS releases November 14th – you’ll be able to preorder your copy for .99c a few days before release! Keep an eye on here for Amazon links as soon as they are available.

I loved this book!!! I think I felt like a little girl reading a fairy tale story and got to see what happens in the backstage.

McKenna and Derek, our main characters, live and work in a castle. But it’s not just any castle, is THE castle to be for every young kid who wants to meet Princes Elena.

McKenna is Princes Elena and Derek Her Royal Highness.

But let’s back up a bit. We know the McKenna since she’s young and works on the balloon stand. She soon gets into the program of the fair’s management sponsorship and gets accepted.

Derek is her mentor and also the owner’s grandson. He’s 10 years older and soon they develop a friendship / mentor relationship. The fact that McKenna secretly falls for him gets unnoticed because suddenly Derek moves to UK.

Moving forward 8 years and he’s back, but Mckenna is no longer the shy girl he used to know. She’s more of a woman now and Derek has no other choice but notice her.

Only it’s a little too late.

The story was unique and fun and Disney-like in every way.

I freaking loved every word and devoured it whole in one sitting.

Way to go, RS Grey, I looove your books.

Dirty Letters by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

I’d never forgotten him—a man I’d yet to meet.
Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break.
Until one day it did.
Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one—one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing.
Griffin forgave me, and somehow we were able to rekindle our childhood connection. Only now we were adults, and that connection had grown to a spark. Our letters quickly went from fun to flirty to downright dirty, revealing our wildest fantasies. So it only made sense that we would take our relationship to the next level and see each other in person.
Only Griff didn’t want to meet. He asked that I trust him and said it was for the best. But I wanted more—more Griff, in the flesh—so I took a big chance and went looking for him. People have done crazier things for love.
But what I found could change everything.

I have always wanted a Pen Pal growing up since I love writing stuff. Even in the digital world, I still keep on writing stuff on paper.

So, when I saw that Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward were doing a new book with Pen Pals, I signed right up.

Now superstar Griffin, aka Cole Archer, has had a very close connection to his pen pal. After a decade though, Luca Vinetti suffered unimaginably loss, and has developed a fear of a crowd and locked spaces. During that time she stopped responding to his letters.

Luca lost her best friend in a fire when she was 17 and she had the survivor’s guilt. Now, she it trying to outgrow her hears through a therapist. This is why, when she goes to clear her father’s place in New York, she founds the last letter from Griffin.

Since the letter was an angry one, she decided to come clean why she stopped replying to his letters. What quickly felt like something she has lost, rekindled and became more.

Little by little, the letters started to become more intimate and dirtier, because now they are adults. And they want to know things that had happened since the last time they spoke.

Things are different now, and since she is afraid of crowds and he’s super famous, how are they going to stay together?

Loved this book!

Love in Due Time (Green Valley Public Library #1) by L.B. Dunbar

Naomi Winters will be forty—soon-ish—and she’s only been with one man. One night. One time. Long ago. She believes everything happens for a reason, and the universe spoke about Nathan Ryder.
Nathan Ryder isn’t the same man who hightailed his bike out of Green Valley eighteen years ago. As a rule breaker, women are one area he acts a fool. Case in point…the local librarian. He can’t get a read on her, but she’s one risk he’s willing to take. Again.

What do an eccentric librarian and a sexy silver biker have in common? More than you think.

The due date on their love might not be expired after all.

Title: Love in Due Time (Green Valley Library #1)

Format: Kindle (411 pages)
Rating: 7/10

I am a bit uncertain of this review, since I enjoyed the book and find it with so much potential, but it was hard to let go of the 40 almost virgin.

I know all the books from the Pennyverse come with different tropes each, and I was pretty excited on the fact that a MC was going to date a 40-year-old librarian.

Naomi and Nathan shared a night together 18 years ago, that led to both lives altering tragedies. He ends up getting banned from this town and she ends up a celibate. Naoimi became a wiccan and found different activities to entertain her.

Now their life is different, and they search for that spark again. I did not feel their chemistry and I hated that she acted like a college girl. The first scene were they met, OMG hot hot hot… but after, things became a bit boring.

In these 18 years Nathan had 2 daughters and while he was ok doing whatever he wanted, he gets proud that Naomi waited for him. I find that hard to believe and it killed my mood around them.

Usually I avoid little things that bother me and try to get a fill of the book as a whole, but in Love in Due Time, I find it harder and harder as the pages turned.

Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas

“We were perfect together. Until we met.”

Misha

I can’t help but smile at the words in her letter. She misses me.

In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.

It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…

And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.

Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?

Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?

F*ck it. I need to meet her.

I just don’t expect to hate what I find.

Ryen

He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.

Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his number or picture or something.

He could be gone forever.

Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.

Needless to say, I love all Penelope Douglas’s books. She’s an author I follow and read everything she writes. There is yet to see if one of her books does not reach my 10 star folder.

If you haven’t read Punk 57, do it now since this high school Pen Pal Love-Hate book will be sure on your re-reads folder after that.

Misha and Ryen are pen pals friends. They have been writing to each other for the past 7 years when 1 night changed everything for Misha. He stopped writing without an explanation.

After 3 months without a word, she still writes him because she promised she will never stop.

While dealing with her loss, a boy named Mason comes to Ryen’s school and begins to stand up to her mean girl bully. Misha and Mason are the same guy, but she doesn’t know that since he is on a mission. Since their towns are next to each other, they never met or know how they look. But Misha knows.

Now, he also knows Ryen is different in person to the girl he receives letters from. Why is she running this double life? Is his mission more important than the girl who has his heart? To love or hate her?

The story is breathtaking. You will be sucked right into the story and feel with them. It’s what I crave more on romance novels!

On a plus side Misha is related to one of our boys in another series of her. But I’ll let you figure it out yourself. If you want to know it, message me in the comments and I’ll reply.

Pour Judgment by Heather M. Orgeron

Korie Potter’s got goals. Goals that do not include following in her mother’s footsteps. Rock stars and the life of the rich and famous? Yeah… not interested. She likes her heart in one piece, thank you very much.

Until a weekend of booze and bad decisions at camp Pour Judgment finds her fake-engaged to country music’s most notorious bad boy, Rhett Taylor, and completely at his mercy.

You see, Korie Potter’s also got a dream, and her new “fiancé” just may have the connections to make it come true.

I fell in love with Heather M. Orgeron’s books while reading Boomerang, and since then, I am reading everything she writes.

This book has rock stars and single camps and sassy heroine, meaning it’s a recipe for “disaster”. I loved it!

Korie Potter wants nothing of the life of celebrities, even if her cousin is part of this world. When she joins him to a party, she catches the eye of Rhett Taylor, famous rock star and playboy, but her refusal only makes him want her more.

At first, he was all for the conquest and follows her to camp Pour Judgment, a camp for singles to meet and have 4 days of fun. At this camp, everything changes, because Korie is more than meets the eye and Rhett is mesmerized. During a display of begging for her phone number, they get photographed and he is on his knees.

The news of Rhett Taylor being engaged soon goes viral and he thinks this is a way to keep her by convincing her to accept the status that goes from being his fiancée and help her succeed in her skateboard career.

She tries to believe him and accepts, but soon things prove too good to be true and her world comes tumbling down. Only it’s after feelings are involved.

This was a lovely easy read for me and I’ve read it in one sitting.

Bad Boy Brody by Tijan

One punch took him from Hollywood’s Golden Boy to Bad Boy Brody.

The media didn’t care he was grieving his brother’s death. They descended on him, but to change his reputation, his manager got him a deal.

Act in an indie film, one that already had Oscar buzz, and he’d get the movie roles he needed to secure his future.

He took the deal.

Yet he wasn’t prepared for the real-life people behind the script. He wasn’t prepared for the murder the movie was based on. And he really wasn’t prepared for her, the biggest secret of all.

She was wild. She was beautiful. She defied gravity.

But was she the leading role that would tame him?

Title: Bad Boy Brody

Format: Kindle (298 pages)
Rating: 10/10

As I’ve said before, I’m in a Tijan bubble lately, so Bad Boy Brody was next in line. If you get confused like I did, when you saw that the book is also told from Mathew Kellerman’s POV, I had to check again if I had a M/M book in my hands.

This actually sounds brilliant to me that this book is told from 3 POV, Brody, Mathew and Morgan. In the beginning things seems fuzzy and I was actually asking myself if Morgan was real or not. The mystery around her mother’s death and Brody coming up to shoot a movie on, has Morgan restless.

As you’ll see further down the line, Morgan is a very kindred spirit, and she has a deep connection with a herd of wild Mustangs, more with a mare that saved her when she had to run and hide while her mother was being murdered.

Only people who lose someone understand what is like to suffer and want to forget, while also fighting to remember the person you loved so much. After Brody loses his brother, everything goes downfall.

His only shot at redeeming himself is if he does this movie. What he did not expect was to find Morgan and fall hard for her. Will his love be enough for the wild girl?

Void by Raven Kennedy & Coralee June

I was born of nothing.

I’m a Void, a rare supernatural capable of absorbing powers at the brush of my skin.

Feared. Hated. Untouchable.

Thibault Academy is full of supernaturals that want me dead, and the most powerful of them, the Paragons, will stop at nothing to ensure I go back to the hell I came from. They’re cruel, heartless, and have created an unlikely alliance to take me down.

If I want to learn how to control the nothingness, I’ll have to survive them.

I was born of the void, but I’ll die from the power.

This is a reverse harem bully romance.

Title: Void

Rating: 10/10

I have read my fair share of Paranormal Romances and got the taste of them all. This one, in particular, is something I have never read of, and I loved the inspirations the authors had.

Now, a Void is in full center in this wonderful PNR RH standalone. I devoured it in one sitting, and I can’t wait to read more of their work.

The Void, Devicka, a name I totally love by the way, has been hated and chased away since her powers came. She accidently stripped her mother of her powers and was chased away in the world of humans.

Now, she accidentally, switched powers between a vampire and a shifter, and all hell broke loose. Now, she’s being studied and sent to the prestigious Academy she dreamt her whole life attending, but under different circumstances. She is feared, hated and picked on for what she is. Because she’s a Void, she can strip away powers of supernatural and no body wants to be in her presence.

Her babysitters are Render (the Vampire), Gritt (the shifter), Hyde (the Necromancers) and Quade (the Elemental). They soon fight their attraction and find out they are destined to be mates.

Now the only problem is the Council and their need of power. When a power play is in the cards, how does a Void survive?
Loved this book!

NAKED OR DEAD by A.E. Murphy

Small town, small-minded people, small expectations, and big A-holes.
Lilith Deville is the new enigma at Lakeside Preparatory Academy, a prestigious high school by a river and not a lake, which makes sense, not. Already she hates it despite its beautiful landscape.
Between riding her dirt bike through the sacred lands of the natives, plotting against those she meets, and holding greasy truckers at gunpoint, Lilith makes no time for love or friendship. Forever the walking mystery (read misery) of her new home and school.
That is until Nokosi Locklear catches her eye with his arrogance and a hard, toned body that she’s certain she doesn’t want to climb.
Shoved up against a locker by him in her first week, she sets him in her wicked sights.
Life is only fun when you have somebody else’s pain to focus on. So long as you stay detached. Something Lilith will find is impossible to do when it comes to Nokosi. A guy with looks but no charm. Strength but no power. Love but no morals.
With a serial killer roaming the country taking victims one by one, a past in Nokosi’s eyes that he tries to hide, and a mother that would rather work than keep her daughters happy, Lilith finds plenty of time to spare and plenty of things to keep herself occupied.

Note: This is your only trigger warning. Read at your own risk.

These are the most awesome books to review because I need to carefully pick my words. I don’t want to spoiler give anything, but OMG THIS BOOK IS OFF THE CHARTS!

Fair warning, I started reading it in blind, so I did not know what was ahead. The ride was terrified and wonderful, and I don’t know how to feel. I am so heart broken on so many levels after this book, that I will need a few light rom-coms for a while!

So. This is a high school romance, or it appears as it, because Lillith is one twisted mother*cker gorgeous pick haired girl that picks the most arrogant guy in school. She has a secret agenda and she targets boys like him. I stared guessing things from 40% in the book, but I was so wrong on everything.

This books has its fair share of triggers so if you’re into dark and twisted stories, read this ASAP.

Nok is a angry young man and maybe as damaged as Lillith, and they soon fall hard and fast. But Lillith has to move soon, because she and her sister, Willow, have a game they play each place they live.

This is not a book for the light readers, because I am quite shocked, speechless and I want to shout to everyone to read it so we can hug it out.

The ending is debatable so I will not say more, but I hope your curiosity is piqued.

The Dugout by Meghan Quinn

Let me ask you a question:

If someone is vying for your spot on a team and just so happens to injure you during practice, would you believe it was on purpose?

Word around campus is . . . it was no accident.

That injury has cost me everything; my starting position, my junior year—and the draft. Now, I’m a senior fresh off recovery, struggling to find my groove, until the day I run into a nervous, fidgety, girl with freckles, in the dining hall.

They call Milly Potter The Baseball Whisperer, The Diamond Wizard, and The Epitome of All Knowledge. She believes in baseball. She breathes it. She’s the queen of an infamous dynasty, but no one actually knows who she really is, and she plans to keep it that way.

One mishap in the panini line, one miscommunication in the weight room, and many failed attempts at an apology equal up to one solid truth — Milly Potter never wants to speak to me again — no matter how good my forearms look.

Little do we both know, she’s about to become more than just my fairy ballmother.

Title: The Dugout

Publication Date: September 19th, 2019

Format: Kindle (391 pages)
Rating: 9/10

I fell in love with Meghan Quinn’s book The Locker Room and the story of Know and Emory. Now we get to see the story about Knox’s best friend Carson Stone.

Carson got injured when his career should have been at its peak, and now he’s the only senior left to play baseball after a tough recovery. Only now, he’s an angry version of what he used to be, since his game is off, and he needs to fight for his chance to get drafted. All of his friends have already been drafted, but no one dared to take a chance on a recovery athlete, even if he was one of the best.

His luck changes when he meets Milly Porter, a baseball whisperer, his Godmother on the field. She will help him recover his swing. I don’t really know baseball, but I felt like everything was explained to “dummy” language so I can understand their world. Sorry, I’m more of a basketball fan!

Milly Porter is the sister of baseball legend Cory Porter and with her other 2 brothers manages to change the impression that women can’t impact the sports of men. She’ll be partner in their D1 training facility.

Everything goes well, they meet, fall in love, but life struck and Carson finds out his father is ill. During this major moment of his life, he shuts down, and that means Molly will have to stay strong and guard her heartbreaking heart.

As a timeline, if you read The Dugout before The Locker Room, in this book Knox is placed after college but before getting back together with Emory.

Either book can be read as a standalone, but our suggestion is to read The Dugout after.

THE BEST THING
*****

Some things are easily forgiven. Other things… not so much.

Lenny DeMaio made herself a promise: she was done.

Done thinking about him.

Done worrying about him.

Done reaching out to a man who clearly didn’t want to be found.

Too bad no one gave Jonah Collins the memo.

Title: The Best Thing
Author: Mariana Zapata
Publication Date: August 7th, 2019
Shelves: Contemporary; Romance; Sports
Format: Kindle (493 pages)
Rating: 10/10

I think I would love everything Mariana Zapata will write. I developed a game for myself to try and find another extremely good writer on slow burns, but so far, I’ve come short. She is one of my go to authors and I’ll re-read her books ‘till the day I die.

The Best Thing is the story of Lenny DeMaio, Luna’s best friend and how she ended up after a trip to France, where she met Jonah Collins and ended up pregnant with his baby girl.

The catch is that now, Jonah is back, and he just found out he has a baby girl. Before, he planned on convincing Lenny to get back together with him, but now he needs her to trust him again. And trust requires time and commitment, things that Jonah is willing to step up.

Jonah is a rugby player who had an injury that made him disappear, because he though his life was over. Little did he know how this will impact his life had he confined in Lenny and stayed with her.

I don’t want to spoiler much, but this is a must read! The side characters are to die for, Lenny is a kick ass heroine that will blow you away, and Jonah.. well, he’s from New Zeeland. Enough said, read the book or listen to it on audio and you’re in for a treat.

Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker

Life is a mixed bag for Piper Calloway.

On the one hand, she’s a twenty-nine-year-old VP at her dad’s multibillion-dollar real estate development firm, and living the high single life with her two best friends in a swanky downtown penthouse. On the other hand, she’s considered a pair of sexy legs in a male-dominated world and constantly has to prove her worth. Plus she’s stuck seeing her narcissistic ex-fiancé—a fellow VP—on the other side of her glass office wall every day.

Things get exponentially more complicated for Piper when she runs into Kyle Miller—the handsome new security guard at Calloway Group, and coincidentally the first love of her life.

The guy she hasn’t seen or heard from since they were summer camp counselors together. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy who apparently doesn’t even remember her name.

Piper may be a high-powered businesswoman now, but she soon realizes that her schoolgirl crush is still alive and strong, and crippling her concentration. What’s more, despite Kyle’s distant attitude, she’s convinced their reunion isn’t at all coincidental, and that his feelings for her still run deep. And she’s determined to make him admit to them, no matter the consequences.

Rating: 9/10

I have always loved T.A. Tucker’s books, because she writes deeply, like I can connect with every emotion she pours into her words. This book is no different, and it’s close to my heart. If you ever experienced you first real love or the one that got away, then you’ll be in for a treat!

As opposed to all the billionaire hot guys out there, now we have Piper Calloway, an heir to an empire and a ruthless father who stood between her and her first love.

Kyle Miller is your old school, bad boy at camp, where he has every girl’s attention, but he only seeks Piper. It doesn’t help that half his family is in prison, and the world expects him to follow suit.

Say You Still Love Me has chapters between then and now, which I’m not so fond of, but I guess, this is the way the author builds the suspense. Plus, I truly feel that Kyle’s POV would be great to read!

Between Camp Wawa and 13 years later, when they meet again, their love is still strong, and their chemistry is still there. I love how her mother brings 13-year-old Piper and tells her this is how friends for life meet. She just forgot to mention that this is how you also meet the love of your life.

All in all, I loved the book, but I would have liked to have a full “then” and full “now” + Kyle’s POV.

PS: the ending is HEA, but without an epilogue into the future.

Format: Kindle (195 pages)
Rating: 8/10

Thom Lange AKA the Wolf has a secret he’s been keeping from his fiancée, but that changes when she decided to leave him and literally blowing away into his world.

Betty finds out that Thom is not the boring, average fiancé she’s been living for a year now, a man she was planning on spending her life with. He is actually a man with a secret life, and he has been lying to her ever since. More bad news, since they are hunted and gunned at multiple times.

Being on the run makes them see the reality behind every mask, every secret and every lie. They soon find out how things really stand between them, how Thom has been faking to be an average man in an average and content relationship.

Between the chemistry that burns around them, the bullets flying, and his teammates being hunted as well, they start an op to reveal who betrayed his crew. I liked how she was involved in everything and how bad ass she was soon becoming.

This was a shot but fun read for me, since I am quite familiar with Kylie Scott’s books. I really hope we will find out more about the rest of the characters that survived this book!

Anti-Stepbrother by Tijan

He told me to settle.
He asked what was wrong with me.
He called me an easy target.
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.

He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.

Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.

I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?

*Stand-alone novel

Rating: 10/10

Ahh, this book left me wanting for more. Whenever I read TIjan, I get into a book bubble of her books and start re-reading everything I love from her.

Anti-Stepbrother is one of my fav. Tijan has a sense of humor I completely get.

College Freshman Summer arrives early at College to find her stepbrother, a guy she loved for 2 years now, but he’s in bed with another student’s girlfriend. And the worst part, she covers for him.

This is how it all started between her and Caden Banks, because he’s the brother of the student’s boyfriend.

Her journey in college soon changes because she in torn into looking out for her stepbrother and checking out on Caden. After a few situations, they become good friends and spend a lot of time together. She’s funny and smart, with hilarious comebacks.

“I’d settle for Hot Tits.” I glanced down at mine. “Maybe the positive reinforcement will help them grow.”

An all 5 star awesome read!

Ryan’s Bed by Tijan

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should’ve left…
I didn’t. I didn’t jump out. I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

Wow, what a ride! I love when books feel so complete to me, there’s a satisfied feeling about ending a book like this.

Let me tell you why you should read this! It has everything in it! It’s deep, emotionally draining and so freaking raw, you cannot believe!

Mackenzie loses her twin sister the day before turning 18. She finds herself moved to a new town, without any friends, and at a house where she and her brother Robbie stay until her grandparents come to take them.

Everything is heartbreaking and she finds herself, by mistake, taking Ryan’s bed instead of his sister’s. this is how all starts and soon they develop a friendship, a bubble where they both are safe.

They are still in high school for a year, and everything comes at her because Ryan is a popular guy, maybe the most popular guy and everyone wants a piece of him. Too bad for them, since he’s into Mac.

This is a journey to self-awareness that will blow you away.

Just one thing, when you see that you have 2 more pages left to read, please film yourself to see your reaction to the last sentence at the end. I can assure you, your mouth will have to be taken from the floor.

Feel free to send it to me, I’m sure we’ll look alike!

Teardrop by Tijan

I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that’s the PG version.
He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies.
And just like that, our friendship was off to a great start.

Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder.
Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation.
He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work.

Correction: where I work again, because I was fired from my last job.
And dumped.
And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right?

Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends.
We shouldn’t have become roommates.
And we really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.)

I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.

Teardrop Shot is a 100k standalone sports romance

Wow, what a ride! I love when books feel so complete to me, there’s a satisfied feeling about ending a book like this.

Everything about Teardrop Shot had depth in it, and I crave books like this! Charlie (a name I love, by the way) has been hiding for about a year until one of her friends tracked her down and convinced her to return to the camp that she has been working for when she was young. Now, in her late twenties, she has been through a lot!

In the beginning you’ll laugh out loud, maybe bark some laughter! She is hilarious and her lines were really effing smart!

At this camp she meets the team of basketball NBA players Seattle Thunder. The team she has been freaking out! And by team, I mean Reese.

Let me tell you why you should read this! It has everything in it! It’s funny, deep, emotionally draining and so freaking raw, you cannot believe!
