Bitten by Deception (True Immortality #4) by S. Young

English rockstar Elijah Webb is more than meets the eye. Being different might have made his childhood hell, but as an adult it’s opened doors to fame and fortune … and the supernatural underworld. Now that he knows all about the creatures that go bump in the night, Elijah’s pretty sure he’s a warlock. Powerful than most, but a warlock, nonetheless.
What else could he be, right?
Vampire Echo Payne is more than happy to infiltrate Elijah’s life to uncover whether the rockstar is one of the seven fae-borne prophesied to open the gate to Faerie. Having encountered one of his kind before, she knows he’s fae as soon as they meet. Her adoptive father, William, might want her to kill Elijah, but Echo has other plans now that she knows William is the monster who destroyed her family. She plans to end William Payne’s reign of terror and save her sister from the same fate she herself endured. But Echo needs Elijah’s help. Who cares about the blazing attraction that flares between them? Not Echo. She needs his fae gifts, not his addictive kisses.
When Elijah discovers Echo’s deception and the truth about what he is, he wants nothing but to protect his human parents. To do that, he has to trust the sexy vampire he can’t help but wish wanted him as much as she wanted revenge. Together they will travel across continents to help the other protect those they hold dearest and in doing so discover how deeply entwined their destinies really are…
For a peaceful future together might just be in the cards if Echo can let go of the past. But to win it, they will have to join forces with the other fae and their mates. It will take all of them to bring down their enemies. And if they fail, no one can save the human world from the darkness of Faerie.

Bound by Forever (A True Immortality Novel #3) by S. Young

“I used to resent forever. But now, because of you, forever will never be enough.”

Niamh Farren has been burdened by knowledge for most of her life. As one of seven fae children born into the human world with the ability to open the gate to Faerie, Niamh’s mission is to guide her fae brethren to do what’s right. Because Niamh has seen what will happen to the human world if she does not protect the gate. Throughout the years, she’s traveled the world with her brother Ronan, using her psychic visions to find the fae-borne and convince them to stay on the path that will keep the gate from opening. She has sacrificed much … but when she loses her brother to the mission, Niamh begins to lose herself.
For nearly one hundred and fifty years, werewolf Kiyo has wandered the planet as a lost soul. Cursed with immortality, he spends his awful eternity as a mercenary for hire. When the powerful Fionn Mór confides the truth about the existence of Faerie and hires Kiyo to protect one of the fae-borne, he accepts the challenge out of boredom, not heroism. Yet Niamh is unexpected in every way the werewolf can possibly imagine.
Guarding Niamh from her enemies is nowhere near as challenging as protecting the fae woman from herself. If Kiyo is to succeed, he must help Niamh find herself again, and not just for her sake. Ignoring the fierce connection between them may no longer be an option. A new enemy is rising and threatening to rip open the gate between worlds. To remind Niamh of who she really is, Kiyo must make the choice to lower his defenses and give into their bond. Or safeguard his own heart … and in doing so lead the human world to the brink of war.

Excerpt Bound by Forever by S. Young

Kiyo was waiting for her to make the first move because it meant he wouldn’t have to take responsibility for anything that happened between them. It would be Niamh’s fault.
That goddamn, fecking, furry arsehole.
Sexually frustrated and furious, Niamh threw him a dirty look, then lunged out of the lounger but in the direction of the bedroom. She slid the patio door open with enough force to break the thing, but she didn’t care, as long as a room separated them.
Blood rushed in her ears with her anger.
A strong hold gripped her biceps and then her body jerked backward in a spin. She let out a sound of surprise as her chest collided against Kiyo’s.
He crushed her mouth beneath his.
It was a deep, hungering, punishing, brutal kiss.
And Niamh relished every second of it, kissing him back with as much need and aggression. The taste of him, the heat of him … he was perfect. He was right.
He fit her.
And it wasn’t enough.
It felt like it would never be enough.
She needed him inside her.
His grip was tight around her arms as he abruptly broke the kiss. The lights in the paper lampshades flickered by the bedside.
Was she doing that?
Niamh couldn’t think.
Kiyo was glaring at her like a man starving.
She thought he might stop, and if he did, she would more than likely scream from the frustration of it all.
Yet he surprised her once again.
His head bent toward hers, his hair tickling her chin as he brushed his lips over hers. Gently. Just a whisper.

Excerpt Much Ado About You by Samantha Young

“Evie, is it?”
My attention lowered to the hand the man had not yet released, before returning to his eyes. He seemed to study my every feature with open appreciation.
I shivered again.
“Did the fall affect your vocal cords? Or do you just not want me to know your name?”
“Evangeline Starling,” I blurted out, still feeling disoriented. “But everyone calls me Evie.”
His mouth spread into a wide smile, and his grip on my hand tightened as he gave it a little shake. “I’m Roane Robson. It’s nice to meet you, Evie Starling.”
Flustered by Roane’s intense regard, I pulled my hand out of his and took in the rest of him. Thick dark hair with a slight curl to it ruffled in the breeze coming up off the sea. A worn, forest- green cable-knit sweater covered his broad shoulders, a loose thread dangling from the hem. Dark-wash denim jeans, covered in mud splatters, were tucked into knee-high Wellington boots. His skin was olive toned, and considering it was May in England and still somewhat cool, he was naturally tan, or years of laboring out in the sun had given him a permanent tan.
Shadow was sitting at attention by his side, the dog’s head level with Roane’s waist. Roane rubbed the top of it absentmindedly. He seemed to understand the question in my eyes. “I’m the local farmer hereabouts.”
Now his clothing made sense.
Not that I minded his rugged appearance.
He was altogether the most masculine specimen I had ever come across. Even his voice was deep and rumbling. I felt that voice in places I had no business feeling it.
I did not come here to meet a gorgeous farmer. Even if he was looking at me as though he’d like to gobble me up. Seriously, his expression was so transparent and . . . awestruck.
A flush moved through me again. I was not a woman who inspired such open and blatant admiration. At least, I never had been. “It was nice to meet you.” I looked down at the dog. “I’m glad he’s okay. He’s a beauty.”
“He’s my best pal and that arsehole tourist was too busy looking at his phone and not the road. He would have hit him if you hadn’t dragged him out of the middle of the street.” Roane stepped toward me, and my skin tingled with awareness. “Please tell me you’re not just visiting for one day. I’d love to buy you a drink in thanks.”
Curse my luck!
I swear off men. I book a trip to England to find myself. Instead I find a sexy English farmer who looked at me like he wanted to kiss my feet in thanks and then strip me naked to thank me some more.
Was it genuine attraction, or was he just grateful I’d saved his dog?

Fight or Flight by Samantha Young

A series of chance encounters leads to a sizzling new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn’t hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava’s ever had. And that’s all it was–until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.

When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb’s orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he’s stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart’s in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. Not long thereafter Ava realizes she’s made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn’t quite so unlikeable after all. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. But even if she does decide to risk her heart on Caleb, there is no guarantee her stubborn Scot will want to risk his heart on her….

Samantha Young is a go-to author to me. It was not a surprised that I LOVED this book.

What I love more about her books, is that I enjoy reading about Scottish characters, and she is very genuine on that. Whenever I would recommend a book of hers, someone always asked if the Scottish aspect of the book was real or amateurish. Ladies, this is the real deal!

When Ava Breevort thinks her days cannot get any worst, she meets Scotsman Caleb Scott. I guess it’s funny since now I register that Scott connection to his name, but anyway. Caleb it’s a man of his own and he manages to make Ava’s day a LOT worst. From their first exchanged words to them sharing a seat next to each other on the plane.

They soon discover that their banter is filled with sexual tension and when Caleb proposes they take it out of their system while he is stranded in Boston, Ava thinks the decision lightly. What can happen to a fling with a sexy stranger? The rude attitude towards Ava has it’s logic, because he thinks she’s just a spoiled rich girl.

During this book I legit laughed out loud and had a smile that made my face hurt.

Black Tangled Heart (Play On #3) by Samantha Young

The New York Times Bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series and As Dust Dances delivers a dark, sexy and emotional standalone romance about love, revenge, and surviving both.

To my siblings, Jane was a friend. A pseudo-sister, the girl we grew up with.

To me? She was everything.

Our passion consumed us.

When our world fell apart, I thought our love would be the thing that held us together.

She was the love of my life. But she abandoned me when I needed her most.

And I’ll never forgive her.

For years I’ve been planning my revenge against the people who took everything from me.

Jane won’t be an exception. I’m coming for her.

She knows it.

She says she wants to help me serve my version of justice on the people who hurt me.

I’ll let her.

She probably thinks it will save her from me.

It won’t.

The book is Out May 14th.

Will go live in Kindle Unlimited on Day of Release.
*This is a complete standalone. The Play On books are connected by the theme of the arts industry, not by characters.

I am a BIG FAN of any books that Samantha Young writes. I discovered her through her On Dublin Street Series and continued to read and one-click every book after that.

The story in Black tangled Heart does justice to her Play On Series, where every book can be read as a standalone because the series connects on their love of art.

Jane Doe has been a foster kid and life was not easy for her. When she meets the new kid, Lorna, that moves in her neighborhood, she is immediately thrown into a best friendship she cannot refuse because she was raised to believe she cannot be loved. With Lorna, comes her sister Skye and Jamie McKenna.

Jane has had a crush on Jamie since she met him, but it will take him a couple of years to notice her. After all, they have a 2 years difference. They have to keep their romance alive while dealing with life, betrayal and a lot of hurt.

50% of the book is about how they came to be Jane and Jamie. After a terrible twist of life, Jamie is thrown in jail for a crime he did not commit. The Jamie that goes out of prison, is not the one Jane loved as a kid. Now he is out for vengeance, and he thinks Jane has also wronged him.

I feel like a just read a movie script and 2 books in one. I spent the whole night finishing this one and my heart is still breaking for a love so pure as theirs.

To be fair, book 1 and 2 of this series were better from my point of view, but that is just because the trope in those ones are a hit for me.

If you are a newbie I wholeheartedly recommend to start at the beginning. Trust me, it’s a fantastic read.

Title: The One Real Thing (Hart’s Boardwalk #1)
Author: Samantha Young
Publication Date: September 6th, 2016
Shelves: Contemporary; Romance;
Format: Kindle (382 pages)
Rating: 8/10

The One Real Thing left me with such mixed feelings regarding my thoughts on this book. I love Samantha Young and find her books brilliant, especially since I fell in love with her On Dublin Street Series, but the first book from Hart’s Broadwalk left me wanting something more.

I think I craved more the depth I felt when reading On Dublin Street, so I am subjective when saying it did not click that much with me. This comes surprising for me since I found Coop and a lot of very lovely characters.

On a side note, I do not regret reading this book, even though I don’t see myself re-reading it in the future. I love Samantha Young’s work that much to not read everything from her.

It is only natural to feel conflicted when reading books, especially since I had very high expectations due to her previous work.

In fact, everyone’s life is infinitely more complex than it first appears. And as India grows closer to Finn and befriends Eloise, threatening the facades that hold them together, what’s left are truths that are brutal, beautiful, and big enough to change them forever…

Excerpt The Impossible Vastness of Us by Samantha Young

When Hayley arrived I got into the car without a word and we drove home to the apartment in silence. Once inside, Hayley finally spoke.

“I thought we could do takeout tonight.”

We couldn’t afford to do take-out nights all the time. Take-out nights were reserved for birthdays and the last night of school summer vacation. Sometimes even Thanksgiving.

Something was up. “Aren’t you supposed to be on a flight somewhere right about now?”

She shrugged, avoiding my gaze as she wandered into the kitchen.

I followed her, watching as she pulled take-out menus out of our kitchen drawer.

“What do you want? Chinese, Indian, Thai, Lebanese?”

“I want to get this ‘talk’ over with.”

Hayley regarded me, taking in my tension and the hard look in my eyes. Finally she sighed. “This is good news, India. Truly it is.”

“Just say it.”

“Theo proposed. I said yes. And we don’t want to wait. We’re getting married this December.”

My mouth dropped open. “I haven’t even met him.”

She pinched the bridge of her nose at my shout. “And that would be a concern if you were younger. But you’re starting junior year. You’re sixteen. Before we know it, you’ll be going off to college.” She stepped toward me and grabbed my hand. I let her squeeze it. “And, sweetheart, you can go to any college you want now.”

“How?”

“Theo is…well, he’s wealthy. And he’s already made it perfectly clear that he wants the very best for me, and that means the very best for you.”

“Are you trying to buy my acceptance of this whole ridiculous thing? You are aware that this isn’t normal, right?”

Hayley dropped my hand. “Don’t be melodramatic. I just want you to know that yes, or course it will be difficult to leave behind school and your friends here and move to Massachusetts, but the upside is that we’ll never have another financial worry in our lives. Ever.”

Jesus, how wealthy was this guy?

As if she read the question on my face, Hayley smiled dreamily. “He’s an incredibly well-respected attorney from a wealthy family. Boston’s elite.”

“And he’s marrying you?”

“Nice,” she snapped. “Very nice.”

“I didn’t mean it like that.” I shrugged. “I just…I thought those people stuck to their own.”

“Usually. But Theo doesn’t care about that stuff. He just wants to marry the woman he loves.” She waved away my negativity with a shake of her hair over her shoulders. “He married a well-to-do woman, and they had a daughter, Eloise, before she died of cancer a few years ago. He hasn’t been serious about another woman since, until me.”

“Oh my God.” I shook my head in disgust. “You think you’re living in a fairy tale.”

“Don’t talk to me like that.”

“You’re hauling me across the country to move in with some guy I’ve never met!” I heard the hysteria creep into my voice, but couldn’t seem to stop it. “Let’s remember the last guy you chose that I had to live with. Or have you already forgotten?”

Understanding dawned on Hayley’s face. It was shocking that I even had to say it out loud. A good mother would have known exactly why I was taking this so hard. “Oh, sweetheart.” She moved toward me but stopped when I flinched back. “Theo is not like him. Not anything like him. I’m not a stupid kid anymore. I wouldn’t make that mistake again.”

I stared at the floor, trying to will my heart rate to slow. I could barely hear anything over the whooshing of blood in my ears.

I started at Hayley’s touch and looked up. She’d decided to ignore my body language and cross the room to take hold of my arms. She ducked her face to stare into my eyes.

“No one,” she whispered fiercely, “no one will hurt you. I promise.”

Liar.

LIAR.

LIAR!

The scream rang out inside of me but somehow I swallowed it.

This was happening.

What begins as a passionate battle of wills leads to an inexplicable but undeniable connection. One that will force them to face an impossible choice between the deepest love… and the darkest revenge.

Excerpt Kiss of Vengeance by S. Young

“Did you kidnap me, Fionn?” She turned to face him. “What the hell did you do to me?”
“A little spell.” He said it so casually, like it was no big deal. Standing, he gave her a knowing look. “Would you have coming willingly?”
Was he serious? Searching the room, she caught sight of a wooden chair near the fireplace. That would do.
“Rose, don’t—”
She gestured with her hands, making the chair soar through the room.
Fionn cursed, swiped his hands across the air in front of him, and sent the chair careening against the wall where it smashed into three pieces. He glared at the chair carnage and then her. “That chair was over two hundred years old.”
“I couldn’t care less if you whittled that chair with your bare fucking hands. How dare you kidnap me!”
He was a blur across the room, hauling her into his arms and then throwing her onto the bed. Rose huffed in aggravation as he towered over her. She pushed up off her back and promised him retribution with her eyes.
“Can we continue this discussion without yelling at each other?”
Disbelief coursed through her. “Oh, you want to be civilized? Now that you’ve knocked me out and carted me all the way from a Spanish island to the middle-of-nowhere Ireland!”
“Galway is hardly nowhere. But speaking of location and your obvious displeasure at being here, An Caomhnóir is, as I’ve said previously, spelled to be invisible from the outside world. No one can find you here. You’re safe. You’re as safe as I can make you until you do the right thing and return An Breitheamh to me.”
The right thing? The right thing! Seething, Rose gritted out, “I couldn’t even if I wanted to. It’s not in this country.”
“Use your magic.” Fionn fisted his hands on the bed on either side of her hips, leaning toward her. Rose’s body unfairly wanted to move into him, so she had to force it to lean back. “Just conjure it here and we won’t have to fight anymore.”
Her answer was to flick her hand, rip a candelabra off the wall, and throw it at his head. Fionn winced as it connected, his hand rubbing the spot where it hit before clattering to the floor by the bed. The vibe in the room grew considerably darker as he turned from the broken light fixture to her. “Very mature, mo chroí.”

Outmatched by Kristen Callihan and Samantha Young

What happens when a boxer finds chemistry with a geek?

Parker Brown can’t believe she needs to hire a fake boyfriend. When she landed her dream job in renewable energy, she thought she’d be entering a world at the forefront of progressive thinking. But the head boss prefers to promote employees who are “settled.” Thankfully, she’s found the perfect candidate, a fellow intellectual looking for some quick cash. What Parker gets is his protective big brother—Rhys Morgan. The tall, muscled ex-boxer with a foul mouth shows up just as her boss does, and now she’s stuck with the manipulative jerk.

Responsibility weighs heavily on Rhys. Now permanently out of the ring, he’s trying to hold together his late father’s gym and keep his younger brother, Dean, on the straight and narrow. To save Dean from himself, Rhys takes his place, ready to give this society girl a piece of his mind. Instead, he finds an opportunity. Even though they can hardly stand each other, posing as Parker’s boyfriend is a win-win deal. She gets to keep her job, and he’ll charm her star-struck boss into sponsoring his gym.

Problem is, they can barely keep their hands off each other. And what started as an easy deal isn’t so easy anymore. Because what future can a rough ex-boxer, afraid to open his heart, and a polished society geek, who has sworn off real relationships, possibly have?

They say opposites attract. These opposites are about to combust on impact.

OMG, I loved Rhys and Parker. This book was a lot of fun and I enjoyed my time reading it.

Samantha Young is a go-to author for me so when I saw her new book I grabbed it in a heartbeat.

Rhys Morgan is a boxer who retired early after his life long friend was unfortunately killed in a matched, leaving a wife and a kid. The fact that he’s known as Rhys “The Widowmaker” Morgan, is no help at all.

After his dad passed away, Morgan found out his money were gone because they were gambled on Jake when he lost his life. Now he needs to find ways to save his gym.

Parker Brown needs to be in a fake relationship because she’s the only female at her company and being a new hire, her boss only keeps committed people. She hires Dean, Rhys baby brother takes the deal, but she gets Rhys instead.

He goes to confront her but sees the opportunity for sponsorship from her boss. It’s a win – win for both of them. That is until feelings are involved.

While reading this book, him – gigantic and her – petite I kept imagining Game of Thrones’ The Hound and his wife.

Anyway, fantastic read, I totally recommend it!

War of Hearts is the first paranormal book of Samantha Young’s and I am really glad that I had a front row seat on reading an ARC. When I found out that she’s the one writing it, I did not even read the blurb, just drove right in.
Thank God because it’s a great way to start a series, especially when the book is also a standalone, meaning you don’t need to wait for book 2 in order to see the ending.

Despite War of Hearts being a standalone and has her own HEA, I still have unanswered questions and the main plot is still being developed. We just get a glimpse of their paranormal world that has much to give.

Thea Quinn has been running from an evil man for 6 years, but now he’s finally found her using the Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan, Conall MacLennan. He has quite an extraordinary ability for their kind, because once he has a scent, he doesn’t forget it and can find you anywhere. That is how he finds Thea. Unfortunately for him, she is always good at using her abilities, at least the ones she’s aware of having.

On their journey to Scotland, Conall fights his attraction to her and also his instincts. Fortunately, their chemistry is too much to ignore so they give in, but that has major consequences to both of them.

Considering Conall bargained his sister’s survival on Thea’s blood to heal her, they are in more trouble now when feelings are involved.

Stepping back inside the motel room, Thea halted as Conall came out of the bathroom. His height caused a logistical problem for her next move.
Although his color hadn’t fully returned to normal, the wolf was looking much stronger. She didn’t know if she could take him in a fight when he was at full strength, which was more than a little concerning. As if he’d read her mind, he cut her an expressionless look. “You should have left me to die, lass.”
“Probably. I guess I’m just going to have to take the chance you were bluffing.”
He frowned and opened his mouth to question her, but Thea had already made her move.
Before he could comprehend it, she was on the bed behind him and reaching for his head before his weakened reflexes could catch up.
The crack of his neck echoed around the room, causing a sick lurch in Thea’s stomach.
For some reason, stupid tears stung her eyes as she watched his body hit the ground with an almighty thud. Why should she care? It wasn’t like he was dead. She’d knocked him out. For … however long he took to heal.
And he had stuck her with that goddamn injection.
Speaking of …
Thea jumped off the mattress, avoiding Conall’s body. Earlier when she’d been treating his wounds, she’d spied the syringes in the first aid kit. Grabbing them, Thea hurried out of the motel room and toward the fields beyond. Quickly she dug a hole with her bare hands and buried the syringes. Hurrying back, she avoided staring at Conall because he looked very much dead.
She grabbed his wallet and as she took his money, leaving him his credit cards, a folded-up photograph caught her attention. Curiosity got the better of her and she pulled it out. Smoothing her fingers across the picture, she spotted who she thought was Conall only to realize it wasn’t. The man who looked like him was standing next to a much younger Conall, and Thea deduced it was his father. The younger Conall had his arm around the waist of a small, redheaded girl buried into his side. And beside the man she’d mistaken for Conall was a beautiful redheaded woman.
Was this Conall and his family?
They were standing on a rocky beach, a beautiful lake and mountains behind them.
Thea wondered which one of them was sick. Which of these people was he willing to sacrifice her for?
Memories of her own parents swelled in her throat, burning and screaming to get out. But Thea shoved them back down as she shoved the photograph into his wallet.
There were times she pulled those memories out and let herself swim in the pain because it was worth it to remember the happy moments.
But now was not the time.
With a ruthless supernatural sure to wake up from a broken neck wanting to kill her, and some unknown entity out there hunting her too, now was very much the time to go.

Excerpt Outmatched by Kristen Callihan and Samantha Young

AngryTink: Hey. This is Parker. Parker Brown.

My phone dinged loudly. I fumbled around my bed, finally finding the damn thing under a pillow. Wiping the sleep off my face, I rolled onto my back and read the text that had pulled me out of a pleasant sleep. I smiled. It was just so … Parker. Settling in, I answered her.

RhysThis: Don’t have to tell me who you are. Your number is programmed on my phone. What do you want?

AngryTink: Well, good morning to you too, Happy Pants.

My smile turned into an evil grin. The girl was always going to punch back and make it count.

RhysThis: That’s Mr. Happy Pants. Though, TBH, my pants aren’t too happy at the moment. Want to help me out with that?

AngryTink: Tempting. Truly. But, no.

RhysThis: RU sure? ‘Cuz Happy Pants Rhys is much more agreeable than Sad That He Had to Self-Satisfy Rhys.

AngryTink: Would you please behave?

RhysThis: I’m not the one who mentioned the emotional state of my pants.

AngryTink: ARGH!

A chuckle rumbled in my chest as my thumbs tapped out a response I knew would piss her off more.

RhysThis: Was that even English? Honestly, Ms. Brown, I thought you were educated.

She took a moment to answer. I could picture her, phone in hand, grinding her teeth.

AngryTink: You’re deliberately trying to annoy me, aren’t you?

RhysThis: You’re quick. I’ll give you that.

AngryTink: Mr. Morgan, I’m about ten seconds away from finding an alternate fake boyfriend. A goat on a rope would be a better candidate at this point.

It was cute she thought that was threatening.

RhysThis: Yeah, probably. But the goat doesn’t have a signed contract. I do, Tinker Bell.

AngryTink: ARGH@!!

RhysThis: You’re kind of cute when you talk pirate.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Samantha Young…

Autumn O’Dea has always tried to see the best in people while her big brother, Killian, has always tried to protect her from the worst. While their lonely upbringing made Killian a cynic, it isn’t in Autumn’s nature to be anything but warm and open. However, after a series of relationship disasters and the unsettling realization that she’s drifting aimlessly through life, Autumn wonders if she’s left herself too vulnerable to the world. Deciding some distance from the security blanket of her brother and an unmotivated life in Glasgow is exactly what she needs to find herself, Autumn takes up her friend’s offer to stay at a ski resort in the snowy hills of Montana. Confident, smart, with a wicked sense of humor, he makes the men she dated seem like boys. Her attraction to him immediately puts her on the defense because being open-hearted in the past has only gotten it broken. Autumn knows she shouldn’t fall for Gray. It can only end badly. After all their lives are divided by an ocean and their inevitable separation is just another heart break away…

Format: Kindle (109 pages)
Rating: 8/10

If you want to read Hold on as a standalone story, please don’t. This is an after book that takes place after As Dust Dances. While reading that book, you’ll meet Autumn there and see her background. It will be useful to understand her better.

Hold On is the HEA of Autumn with glimpse of our lovely couple Skylar and Killian. Furthermore, Hold On is a part of the Big Sky Crossover of Kristen Proby’s series, so that sounds awesome.

This short story has insta love all over, with no drama, just insecurities from the past. Autumn O’Dea actually knocks into Grayson King, literally knocks him off while trying to sky. They instantly form a connection during her stay in Montana.

I was actually expecting a full book with Samantha Young’s full signature all over, but now that I understand it as a tribute for Autumn and Gray, I don’t mind seeing this as an longer epilogue.

Crossover novellas by some of Kristen Proby’s favorite writers:

Worth Fighting For
Nothing Without You

As Dust Dances (Play On #2) by Samantha Young

Once upon a time I was a pop-rock princess.
It was a dream that turned into a nightmare.
I lost everything to that world.

Scotland was supposed to be a refuge. I hid in Glasgow, singing on street corners for money.
But then he found me. Killian O’Dea. A record executive. An ambitious one.
I didn’t want anything to do with the brooding and ruthless Scot.

Until the day I realized it wasn’t safe for me to be on the streets, and I had no one else to turn to but Killian.
In exchange for help, I agreed to give Killian what he wants. But what he wants is to return me to a life I hate.

And to make things worse, there’s something growing between us. Something hot and dark. A bond. A passion that can’t be denied.

I made a deal with the devil. And now I’m falling in love with him.

Killian O’Dea is going to ruin me.
I wonder if he realizes… I’m going to ruin him right back.

*This is a complete standalone. The Play On Series are books connected by the theme of the arts industry, not by characters.

As Dust Dances BLURB:

The New York Times Bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series and Play On returns to the world of the arts in this sexy and emotional standalone romance about love, sacrifice, and surviving both.

Once upon a time Skylar Finch was the lead singer of a hugely successful American pop-rock band. But fame made her miserable. When years of living a lie suddenly ended in tragedy, Skylar fell off the map.

Eighteen months later she’s sleeping in a tent in a cemetery in Glasgow, making just enough money to eat by busking on the streets. She manages to avoid recognition, but not the attention of one of Glasgow’s ambitious A&R executives.

Killian O’Dea works at Skyscraper Records, Scotland’s most successful record label. Raised by his uncle and owner of the label, Killian’s upbringing would have been devoid of affection entirely if it wasn’t for his loving sister. Killian is unflinchingly determined to bring the label more success than ever, and the young homeless woman who busks on Buchanan Street is going to help him do that. Her music speaks to him in a way he refuses to over-analyze. All he knows is that if it can touch his dark soul, it’ll set everyone else’s alight.

Skylar makes it clear that she doesn’t want to sign with him. But when she experiences the dangerous reality of a woman sleeping rough, Skylar has no one else but Killian to turn to. An undeniable connection forms between them. But Skylar doesn’t want the career Killian is trying to forge for her, and when her past comes back to haunt her Killian will be faced with a decision that could ruin him. He must either free Skylar from his selfish machinations and destroy everything he’s ever worked for, or lose a woman who has come to mean more to him than he ever thought possible.

Title: As Dust Dances

Publication Date: August 7th, 2018
Shelves: Contemporary; Romance;
Format: Kindle (361 pages)
Rating: 10/10

Just as Play On, Book 1 of this series, As Dust Dances is one hell of a book. There are no common characters between book 1 and 2, just the city of Glasgow.

As Dust Dances plays a unique storyline about a famous rock princess who was beginning to lose herself, so she left her life ending up busking on the streets of beautiful Glasgow. She refused to reach her money, so she was homeless for 5 months.

Skylar managed to survive a life so bad, that she refuses to contact anyone from her previous contacts. When Killian O’Dea finally introduces himself, she runs away scared of what he might want from her. That is until the inevitable happens, and she is mugged for her guitar.

Killian recognizes her against every attempt to hide who she is, and he makes a deal with her to sign for an album. Being her only choice, she accepts.

Little they did know that this is the start of something both never felt before.

The book is so beautifully written to show the struggle Skylar faced, but love and hope can heal a soul. Especially when her soul started healing through her songs.

Unlike book 1, book 3 Hold On will tell the story of Autumn O’Dea, Killian’s sister. Hold On is a part of the Big Sky Crossover of Kristen Proby’s series, so that sounds awesome.
