One Apocalypse (The Dark Side #4) by Kristy Cunning

The life goals have stacked up since I started this journey as a sad, lonely little ghost. I’m not sure how things escalated so quickly from trying to be seen and heard, to bearing the weight of the world on my vain little shoulders.
As a result, my goals have gotten a little more serious…

Goal #14: Learn to take a hit without breaking or suffering some type of death.

Goal #15: Decide once and for all if I’m going to save or destroy the world. I’m not sure why people put this sort of responsibility on hell-spawn like me.

Goal #16: Practice my evil laugh, because all hell-spawn need a good evil laugh.

Goal #17: Find and kill all the unicorns. Mwahahahahaha.

Goal #18: Live to enjoy forever with the guys I sacrificed all my memories to save.

Goal #19: No matter what, they don’t get to die. Or I really will be THE Apocalypse.

We’re the most screwed up collection of antiheroes the world has ever seen, because the only thing that makes me want to save the world is knowing I could lose my boys forever if I don’t. It’s one HELL of a love story, you know?

I enjoyed more the beginning than the end, because the end is always bittersweet especially with this author.

I was so glad I’ve read this series when all the books were out, because I don’t think I would have survived.

This series is phenomenal, I loved every minute / word of it.

I don’t think it’s a dark romance and my tolerance is low. It was fun, interesting plot and awesome characters.

It’s a RH series I read time and time again.

I won’t spoil the end, but it will be worth it. Paca saves the day and you won’t see it coming. She is truly an unpredictable character and one you’ll remember.

The books are currently at 0.99 USD each so I might think you will be foolish not to but them all.

Two Kingdoms (The Dark Side #3) by Kristy Cunning

I’m getting a little tired of completing my goals, only to have the bar raised too substantially for me to transition at a productive pace…
I started off as a sad little ghost with an impossible crush on four really hot, Gothic guys with some attitude problems. Now I’m The Apocalypse, they’re the Four Horsemen, and Lucifer is my fucked up daddy. Now my additional goals look like this?

Goal #9: Make a deal with the Devil without getting cheated, manipulated, or tricked.

Goal #10: Make my boys love me and take over the world…okay…so maybe just that first part. That second part sounds like it could take too much ambition, and I just don’t have the drive for that.

Goal #11: Make cookies.

Goal #12: Call dibs on my favorite color.

Goal #13: Find out if my siblings or my father killed me and my boys…

Title: Two Kingdoms (The Dark Side Book 3)
Author: Kristy Cunning
Publication Date: June 28th, 2018

In book 3 things start to make sense. A lot of unanswered questions have now answers. We finally know what everybody’s purpose is.

Jahl is a thing that threatens the world, all their worlds and someone needs to be the hero. We now know Paca has something to do with it, but her plan was so secret that even she did not know about it.

She left her riddles and clues as to what to do and we see a lot of hints throughout this book. After reading it the 2nd time and maybe 3rd, I start to see little details that I’ve missed the first time.

This book has been emotional because her relationship with the guys is more equal than it was in their previous lives. She is scared she forced the guys to be with her.

I love that they don’t remember and have to fall in love again and I love that they have to reassure this life as all the others.

Three Trials (The Dark Side #2) by Kristy Cunning

So, I’ve checked off some life goals and added a few new ones to my list.

Goal #5: Get out of hell’s belly without letting my ungrateful charges die.

Goal #6: Get a new name that’s more badass.

Goal #7: Stop wasting my breath on lectures and start annoying the quad hell squad every time they annoy me. Fight fire with fire. Ha! Another hell pun.

Goal 8: Find out who the hell killed me.

I’ll add more. I don’t want to overwhelm myself before I even finish checking off my old goals. But seriously, I really do need a more badass name, considering how much I have to keep saving my damsels in distress.

I probably shouldn’t call them damsels, since they’re a little murderous and all.

Maybe I should add seeing a hell-certified psychologist to my list of goals.

Title: Three Trials (The Dark Side Book 2)
Author: Kristy Cunning
Publication Date: December 2nd, 2017

Format: Kindle (210 pages)
Rating: 10/10

We finally have more answers as to what Keyla is and her real name.

Because they complete the impossible trials, the world finally knows that Paca and her 4 Horsemen are back.

Now we understand more about their bond and how they came to find each other in every life. But the more answers we get, the more questions we make.
The author is brilliant and makes her books keep you close to your seat. I couldn’t stop reading.

The 2nd books comes with more twisted information. A lot of close deaths and builds up for their shared moment. Yup, we get a very hot, sexy and steamy scene for you to enjoy. I am glad it took that long, since we needed to bond with them as well. We need to understand how Paca is created and how she loves so deeply.

All this character development is critical, and every piece of information is necessary for you to understand their world.

War, Famine, Death and Conquest have their goal in their world and all of them need to find out what it is.

Again, this PNR series is a must on your TBR list.

Four Psychos (The Dark Side #1) by Kristy Cunning

I’m not so different from most people.
Like everyone else, I have life goals.

Goal #1: Become a real girl instead of this invisible ghost thing I currently am.

Goal #2: Convince the four men I’ve been haunting for the past five years to pick me to be their new toy after goal one is complete.

Goal #3: Figure out who/what I am and why I can’t remember anything past the five years I’ve been haunting this quad.

Goal #4: Eat popcorn.

See? Perfectly normal. Sort of.
Gotta start small, after all.
It’s not like anyone else is perfect either.

This is one of my favorite PNR romance series. If you don’t know by now, keep in mind Kristy Cunning is a Pen name for RH romance written by CM Owens. So, if this is news to you, go check it out and see all her book.

Four Psychos introduces us the 4 guys our ghost has been watching for the past 5 years. Without them she disappears into nothingness until they return home. She is anchored to them somehow.

When someone tries to kill one of them, she protects him and by doing that, she “levels up” and starts to become visible only for them.

They immediately become defensive and try to figure why is she here, and who she is. Unfortunately for Keyla, she does not receive the welcome she deserves when they finally meet her.

While she tries to level up, the guys have a trial to compete.

Make sure you are ready for some big surprises along the way.

Gypsy Truths (All The Pretty Monsters Book 6) by Kristy Cunning

After spending the vast majority of my life lonely, I came to this town to find answers about my mother, and instead, stumbled upon a secret society full of monsters I never knew existed outside of dark tales.

Now I’ve built a sanctuary, gotten in the middle of an ages-old feud between various monster factions, and somehow ended up with an ancient, queen-like tyrant targeting me, because my life sucks sometimes.

I don’t know how these things keep happening to me. They just do.

Tensions keep climbing, and everyone’s on edge while waiting and watching to see what Idun Neopry does next.

In the midst of all that, the secrets spill, the lies unravel, and the half-truths finally come to full fruition. It’s been one hellish snowball ride to make it this far, and I’m mostly ready for anything that comes next.

That’s a lie, actually. But I’d like for it to be the truth. For now, hoping for the best is all I have. Well, I guess that’s a lie too. Hope’s not all I have.

I also have a Van Helsing, who can slay a small army without wrinkling his shirt. Then there’s a Morpheous, who can toy with my mind in ways I never imagined. I’ve got a wolf, who makes it a goal to keep me human-ish. And there’s a vampire, who enjoys killing and stabbing.

Ancient alphas, old vendettas, super-complicated histories, mass-death threats, and a lot of personal baggage. That’s become a Tuesday morning coffee break to me by now.

Like I said, my life sucks sometimes.

OMG!! This ending is bittersweet, because Holly Hell… it really is the end the series deserved. Kristy Cunning (CM Owens) you really are my top author!!

I am truly fascinated on how your mind works.. Some of the things you write blows my mind, and i really think some of Anna’s shenanigans were really some of your Halloween thoughts!!

I am not going to give away any spoilers, because there’s a room for that in her Book Club, where you can join after answering a question. Click here to join.

Since there’s no spoilers, let me tell you what goodies you’ll read about.

  1. Really hot, steamy sex
  2. Very long battles, finally. I say this because I have read good books with the final battle ending to quickly.
  3. A lot of POVs from the guys
  4. 2 epilogues that were bittersweet
  5. Major twists
  6. All you previous questions answered

I love my heroines to prove themselves and make it in a way I cannot predict it, because it makes you sit on the edge of your chair the whole time. Arion, Vance, Emit and Damien are exactly what you want and their reactions to Violet is still funny when I remember it. If I were to pick a character to be in this book, I’ll choose one of the guys, because I totally had the same reactions as they had.

The book has 621 pages, so be prepared for a long night to read it breathlessly, because that is what comes to, when reading CM Owens books. I f*cking love her!!

Sing, gypsies, sing of your lies…

That old song plays in my head, as the world turns around me faster than it has ever turned.

Monsters and mayhem. That’s become my life.

Fear and apprehension. That’s become the normal for those around me.

Dread and distraction. That’s what has interrupted my own personal romance story with my mon-star quad.

Vengeance and retribution. That was the theme of the monster world long before I landed in it, and it’s starting to heat up more than ever.

Jabs from a complicated, ancient past keep coming so much and so quickly that I’ve grown desensitized to them. Which is a good thing, since I’m about to need a thick skin.

I guess it’s time to see if I can handle being in the middle, because that’s where I’m about to put myself. My mother always did accuse me of being a masochist. I’m starting to think she must be right.

Either they love me, or they love her.

I suppose it’s time to find out who wins. I don’t fight pretty, and I’m not that great at smack talk.

It’s not that they’re not worth fighting for. I just don’t want to have to fight for them. Not when when I’m fighting bigger battles already. Either we’re in this together, or I’m on my own. That’s for them to decide on their own.

Let the games begin.

Title: Gypsy Rising
Author: Kristy Cunning (pen name for C.M. Owens)

We have been expecting Gypsy Rising to be released for quite a while now, but Kristy Cunning (a.k.a C.M. Owens) has met the high expectations for this series. Gypsy Moon ended on a major cliffhanger; thus I was eager to get my hands on this book.

Violet is becoming everything we never knew we wanted her to become. I anticipated her to gather some entourage of her own in this book so I am truly happy she’s done that, but in a mind-blowing way that I will let you read the book to find out.

Idun shows up and starts to play her part, but I loved every minute of how Violet “plays” her game, because I start to think, even though she is a kind and oblivious person, she has a master mind no body expected her to have. Even the boys doubt she can be THAT calculated, since they never even sensed her plotting her plan.

There is a scene where she confronts Idun in a Violet way that had tears to my eyes while reading. It’s strange how beautifully sad it was, meanwhile, I was so proud of her by doing a sacrifice to prove a point.
The 6th book is being written as we speak, so there might be some time to wait for it, but I know it in my bones that it will be the ending they all deserve. I just want front row seats to it!
I love this series because it has a lot of secrets and twists that I don’t see coming, and makes me paranoid with questions and predictions of how things will turn up.

Imagine searching your whole life for answers, and then finally finding them. A part of you is excited to know the truth. Another part of you is damaged, because you realize why it was so hard to learn answers.

Secrets aren’t usually very pretty.

In the midst of all of it, the four monsters I’ve gotten too attached to are about to be reunited with the one woman they all once loved so deeply that they sacrificed everything to have an eternity with her.

They said they hated Arion, but I never see hatred when they’re around him. I see frustration, resentment, anger, and pain, but never hatred.

They say they hate Idun, but until she returns, I won’t know how true that really is. All the pretty monsters don’t have simple emotions, because everyone has lived so long that it’s gotten entirely too complicated to feel anything too much.

The only way to figure out what happens next is to stop stalling and start doing, while silently hoping it doesn’t cost me everything I never knew I wanted…until it landed in my lap.

My life sucks so hard sometimes.

First order of business on Gypsy Moon, THANK YOU for not killing Shera. YET? That was one of the things I feared. I feel like I felt during Games of Thrones, when I feared loving a character because he might be dead soon, just like Anna, who we still are confused about.
Violet is still an “Oh, My God! Of a woman”!!!! She’s such a controversial character, that I don’t know what to expect. Furthermore, I love how she handles her pretty monsters, and how she keeps them in check.

“I’m not talking to you, and if you’re a smart man, you’ll figure out why”, I state firmly. “Only when you figure it out will we discuss it.”

And then, she does things like this:

“Unsure how to be right now, since this feels sort of awkward, I think I curtsy. Pretty sure that’s why his eyebrows bounce up. Life would be easier if I knew how to be cool.
“I’m weird. I’d apologize, but I’m really too tired”

After reading Gypsy’s Blood, Gypsy Freak and Gypsy Origins, we were left with SO many questions that thankfully were partial explained in Gypsy Moon. Furthermore, we see ourselves closer to the war that everybody sees coming, especially since Idun was raised earlier, without anyone knowing.
On a side note, my questions this time are less than before, but I am still confused regarding some events and secrets that they are still not divulging. Meanwhile, THE Marta comes into play and talked in riddles, because she has bigger secrets to reveal, hopefully in book 5.

I honestly, don’t know how to feel about the ending of this book, since Marta already predicted that they will just walk away when they realize they care about Violet, which they did.
I can’t wait for book 5, since now the Simpletons will make an appearance.

My Questions so far:
What is Violet’s status? An omega? A beta? Maybe an Alpha?
Why Is Arion so sure Idun won’t hurt Violet? What rules is he talking about?
What happens after Violet’s purpose is fulfilled?
Who is Violet’s father? Is Tom really what he says he is?
What is Marta keeping a secret?
What bigger role will Carroline, Boboand Nadine have?

Gypsy’s Blood – Blurb:

I’m not all that special, really. Or uncommon. I’m sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. Completely unoriginal, if I do say so myself.
Move along. Nothing to see here. Nope. I’m just an ordinary girl.

I wish people would believe that.

I’ve been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life:
Death Girl.
Crazy Gypsy Girl.
Gothic Chick.
Monster…

It took my mother’s death for me to finally start getting answers about what’s really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men…who aren’t just men. Somehow, I’ve gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I’m starting to think this is where I should have been all along.

Only…I don’t understand what’s going on. I’m walking into the middle of a story that’s thousands of years old, and I’m the new girl on the block who doesn’t have a clue how this world even works. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch.

They decide who lives or dies. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured.
Yeah…

I’ve gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear.

How do these things always happen to me?

Firstly, I was so excited when I heard that Cm Owens will release a new RH series, especially when the 6-7 book series will come each, 3 weeks apart. That is great news because we don’t have to wait that long for them to be released and ENJOY the hell out of them.

I just love everything she writes!!! It’s bloody fantastic and she has a way with words that has me drinking every word. Can’t wait for Gypsy’s Blood follow up, Gypsy Freak to be out.

Therefore, I did not see myself loving books on Reverse Harem, but if they are well written and the story is captivating, then I don’t mind that there is 1 girl and 4 guys. I mean, we live in a judging society, but I am very open-minded when I read. That is why it’s called FANTASY.

However, some of you might want to wait until the whole series is out, but when you love an author so much, the wait is worth it. For me CM Owens is one hell of a woman with an imagination that blows my mind.

I think I will forever love everything she writes. Gypsy’s Blood is no different.

Violet is a Portocale Gypsy that will make you see her as a weak gypsy in a very oblivious world, where she has blind faith in her mother and her unknown plans for her. She moves to the town where her mother was having a shop to sell gypsy potions and other magic related stuff, but has no idea the kind of monsters that are ruling this town.

On the other hand, the storyline may seem a bit slow to you, but there are a lot of details that are needed in order to develop a character. However, everything you read will have an ulterior reason and the suspense makes you want to shout some really “happy” words.

To sum up, you meet the guys, Damien, Emit, Vance and Arion, which trust me, you will find it hard not to take sides on your favorite. They are the cursed monsters and we want to know why Violet is so important to them and why they are so drown out by her. Meanwhile, Violet leads her life and searches for answers.

“Maybe their parents didn’t love them enough and it made them stabby?”

In short, make sure to follow CM Owens’ website for news and new releases!

Blurb:

What’s it like to be a monster in a town full of monsters, who don’t know you’re a monster?
Complicated and a little scary, but doable.

What’s it like to be the girl who can’t die…that everyone seems to always want to kill?
Frustrating as hell.

What’s it like to accidentally raise psychotic alpha vampire everyone fears, who drops a lot of bodies on his first day out as a ‘gift’ for your troubles?
Terrifying, if I’m being honest.

What’s it like when that crazed vampire tells you he wants you to be the happy little intermission, during an ongoing ancient story, and expects you to use your vagina to draw in a werewolf alpha, a Van Helsing alpha, and a sexual deviant alpha, so he can have his old friends back?
That’s when a girl has to stop, look around, and question her life choices.

I really don’t know how this stuff keeps happening to me. Life was simpler when it was just me accidentally blowing myself up while trying to create potions and shampoo.

I’ve lived my life in such secrecy that I’ve spent most of it lonely. So lonely, in fact, that my best friend is a delusional ghost. I’d rather focus on her than all the crazy things happening in my life at current. Ever since coming to this town, I’ve had my throat slit by vampires, attracted way too much attention from some powerful alphas, and did a lot of regrettably stupid things because…I’m too gullible for shady monsters.

To them, I’m the fool.
To them, I’m the naive girl in over my head.
To them, I’m the pawn on a worn chessboard, while the seasoned players knock me around.

Meanwhile, I’m still left to figure it all out on my own, because, just like me, no one wants to share their secrets.

The 3 weeks wait for this book to come out have been very frustrating, but the fact that I enjoy this series so much is totally worth the wait.

After we’ve met most of the characters in the first book, we are desperate to find out more and understand who is who and most important WHY?

Violet is one complicated woman who likes to surprise everyone, and mostly does this with little effort. This is just my kind of woman!! I really enjoy that the sexual contact of this book is not that important and is treated really well, so if you want a scene where everyone’s there doing “the sex” this is not the book to happen. At least so far.

I enjoyed each character and the time they spent with each one of the guys and got to know them pretty well, but considering this is a series in which they develop as it goes, you will start to have more questions regarding the secrets they seem to keep. I very much like it that this is keeping me in line and with my breath catching every time something happens and I did not foresee that.

I love it when people in books fight their attraction for the main characters and the guys will experience some of this, more than Violet.

Here is the Gypsy song that might answer some of your questions, but keep in mind that there will be more:
“The song of a Gypsy’s Pride:

The tea leaves warned of blood and death.

Four gypsy first-borns breathed the last breath.

War! War! Beyond the double-dutch doors!

Sing, sweet gypsies, who will be mistaken no more.

Six gypsy families all stood nigh.

Five gypsy families for one sacrifice.

Four gypsy families broken apart.

Three gypsy families turned cold of heart.

Two gypsy families couldn’t back down.

One gypsy family went underground.

Forever is such a long time to bleed.

Worst are the gypsies brought to their knees.

Sing, gypsies, sing of your lies.

Never trust a gypsy with no gypsy pride.

Sing, gypsies, sing of your truths.

The apples have all rotted; the oranges just bruised.”

Gypsy Origins – Blurb:

I’m like a snowball rolling downhill.

That’s the first thing that pops into my mind when I try to explain my life. I don’t know exactly ‘what’ I am, but I do know who I am.

At least…I did.

Sometimes life sends things your way that upend everything you thought you knew, and then slings you in another direction without any sort of harness or warning.

Sometimes it drops someone like me off in the path of four wildly different monsters, who all used to be best friends, but now sort of hate each other and compete over absolutely everything, including…me.

Life would be easier if I wasn’t already attached to those four monsters, but they occasionally let their guard down around me, and I get a glimpse of what has to stay hidden under all those snowball layers, since they already rolled downhill a long time ago.

I’m tired of losing people I care about. I’m tired of searching aimlessly for answers. I’m tired of not having the right questions to ask.

I’m really tired of feeling like my vagina is cursed, but that’s obviously lower on the list of priorities. But in my vagina’s defense, it may not do tricks, but I keep it pretty. It shouldn’t keep scaring men/monsters off so easily, and it’s honestly starting to make me feel a little insecure.

Anyway, I’m finally closer than ever to having all the answers. So long as no new secrets emerge.

This book made me read it so slow, because we are being educated on the origins of their world. I found myself reading a paragraph more times than I could count because I wanted to understand it and see the meaning behind it. However, it will also leave you more confused than ever because at the end what you knew so far does not make sense and the questions are more pressing than ever.

Moreover, I have never been more paranoid in my entire life when reading a book. I actually second guessed everything there because I expect to have hidden meanings everywhere. And I just love it. It keeps me so wrapped in the story and makes me very much involved with it.

In this book you will find some steamy scenes that you will not want to miss. The guys are such different but make such a wonderful team, and Violet, I’m sure will raise up to their expectations, even blow them away.

The 3 weeks wait for the next release of “Gypsy Moon” is what I find it more difficult this time, because the cliffhanger for this one has been brutal. We want to see what happens next and we want it bad!
