Pretty Reckless (All Saints High #1) by L.J. Shen

From USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author L.J. Shen comes an intense, high school enemies-to-lovers romance with a twist.

Penn

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.
I’d had four years to stew on what Daria Followhill did to me, and now my heart was completely iced.
I took her first kiss.
She took the only thing I loved.
I was poor.
She was rich.
The good thing about circumstances? They can change. Fast.
Now, I’m her parents’ latest shiny project.
Her housemate. Her tormentor. The captain of the rival football team she hates so much.
Yeah, baby girl, say it—I’m your foster brother.
There’s a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life, and she’s about to shell out some serious tears.
Daria Followhill thinks she is THE queen. I’m about to prove to her that she’s nothing but a spoiled princess.

Daria

Everyone loves a good old unapologetic punk.
But being a bitch? Oh, you get slammed for every snarky comment, cynical eye roll, and foot you put in your adversaries’ way.
The thing about stiletto heels is that they make a hell of a dent when you walk all over the people who try to hurt you.
In Penn Scully’s case, I pierced his heart until he bled out, then left it in a trash can on a bright summer day.
Four years ago, he asked me to save all my firsts for him.
Now he lives across the hall, and I want nothing more than to be his last everything.
His parting words when he gave me his heart were that nothing in this world is free.
Now? Now he is making me pay.

I have to admit that I have read Pretty Reckless before reading the Sinner of Saint series. As some of you might find out now, All Saints High Series is a spin-off where the second generation of All Saints tell their story.

On another note, OMG, what a day I had reading this one! I just can’t wait to read Broken Knight and before it comes out, I’m gonna’ tear the Sinner of Saint series.

Daria Followhill is the daughter of Jamie and Melody Followhill. She is the queen of All Saints High School, and I mean The queen. She meets Penn when she’s 14 years old.

After 4 years when everything when downhill, they meet again, and her life turn for the worst. During this time, they rekindle a flame that wished to be forgotten.

I can’t help but think that Daria made some stupid and awful mistakes, but eventually you’ll reason with her. I still think she got of the hook a bit too easily. That being said, I love her family, especially Jamie!

After reading Pretty Reckless I want to read Jamie’s story! Stat!

This kind of readings make my heart heavy, but I know it’s full of angst, especially for young love. Penn has been through a lot, but he is worthy of his place in their world! I love how people have their loyalties, even at this young age, where you shape your future and make you way between revenge and fighting for your feelings.

As a conclusion, I totally recommend this one, but maybe try and read the first series before, since it’s complete and but the time you finish it, maybe Broken Knight is out as well.

Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker

Life is a mixed bag for Piper Calloway.

On the one hand, she’s a twenty-nine-year-old VP at her dad’s multibillion-dollar real estate development firm, and living the high single life with her two best friends in a swanky downtown penthouse. On the other hand, she’s considered a pair of sexy legs in a male-dominated world and constantly has to prove her worth. Plus she’s stuck seeing her narcissistic ex-fiancé—a fellow VP—on the other side of her glass office wall every day.

Things get exponentially more complicated for Piper when she runs into Kyle Miller—the handsome new security guard at Calloway Group, and coincidentally the first love of her life.

The guy she hasn’t seen or heard from since they were summer camp counselors together. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy who apparently doesn’t even remember her name.

Piper may be a high-powered businesswoman now, but she soon realizes that her schoolgirl crush is still alive and strong, and crippling her concentration. What’s more, despite Kyle’s distant attitude, she’s convinced their reunion isn’t at all coincidental, and that his feelings for her still run deep. And she’s determined to make him admit to them, no matter the consequences.

I have always loved T.A. Tucker’s books, because she writes deeply, like I can connect with every emotion she pours into her words. This book is no different, and it’s close to my heart. If you ever experienced you first real love or the one that got away, then you’ll be in for a treat!

As opposed to all the billionaire hot guys out there, now we have Piper Calloway, an heir to an empire and a ruthless father who stood between her and her first love.

Kyle Miller is your old school, bad boy at camp, where he has every girl’s attention, but he only seeks Piper. It doesn’t help that half his family is in prison, and the world expects him to follow suit.

Say You Still Love Me has chapters between then and now, which I’m not so fond of, but I guess, this is the way the author builds the suspense. Plus, I truly feel that Kyle’s POV would be great to read!

Between Camp Wawa and 13 years later, when they meet again, their love is still strong, and their chemistry is still there. I love how her mother brings 13-year-old Piper and tells her this is how friends for life meet. She just forgot to mention that this is how you also meet the love of your life.

All in all, I loved the book, but I would have liked to have a full “then” and full “now” + Kyle’s POV.

PS: the ending is HEA, but without an epilogue into the future.

Cake (Cake #1) by J. Bengtsson

-A reclusive rock star going through the motions-

Jake McKallister might have been a rock star, but he was no ordinary one. Surviving an unspeakable crime as a young teen had shaped him into a guarded workaholic, and he now lived his life trying to forget. If it hadn’t been for music and the redemption he found through it, he might not have survived. Career success came easily for him. Personal connections did not.

-A vivacious college student embracing life-

When outspoken and fun-loving Casey Caldwell was paired with the famously reserved musician for a friend’s wedding, she was prepared for the worst. What could they possibly have in common? She was a bubbly talker; he was a media-shy loner. His life was filled with music; she couldn’t carry a tune. She’d enjoyed a happy childhood; his was a well-publicized nightmare.

-Their worlds are about to collide-

Despite their obvious differences, Jake and Casey found each other, and her light balanced out his darkness. Would their love be strong enough to survive the weight of his tragic past?

*************

Cake A Love Story is a full-length contemporary novel from Amazon bestselling author J. Bengtsson about finding love and redemption where you least expect it. It’s the first book in the gripping five-book Cake Series.

“Jake and Casey were well-developed characters with fantastic chemistry. I felt their love story unfolded in a very natural, realistic, and believable way. The dialogue was quick-witted and fun. The story was emotional, heartfelt, funny, and so sweet. I loved it!” – Angela’s Book Addiction

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Cake is a love story at heart but does deal with a sensitive topic and may not be suitable for all.
*Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of eighteen.

Before reading this review, there is something you need to know about me! I do not cry while reading, I mean when people say they ugly cry, maybe I wet my eyes a lil’ bit, but usually I am very hard to turn into tears while reading. If we’re talking about movies, well.. that’s my soft spot, but books.. not quite.

While I say this, there are some books that make my throat close up and I feel it in my tummy… and this book was one of them. I think I get emotional when I really like the character, in this instance I fell pretty quick for Jake McKallister.
I started reading this because someone recommended it as a slow burn, close to MZ, but while the book is good, MZ is another level. I am still, yet to find, someone to compare her books to.

Jake McKallister is a Rockstar attending his bother’s wedding and he meets Casey Caldwell. She blows him away with her jokes and funny comebacks and he’s immediately hooked.

From there there’s the journey they get to know each other while Jake still deals with his trauma after being kidnapped as a teen and assaulted 10 years ago. This is the sensitive topic the author deals with, so if this is a trigger for you, avoid it.
The name of the book Cake comes from Casey + Jake, which I find it all too lovely.

After finishing this book, I feel like I had a heavily conversation with someone telling mt his / her story, and I breaks my heart for those who’ve dealt with this or any kind of trauma. Bonus points to having a HEA.

I cannot wait to dive into the other books in this series.

At The Buzzer (The Ballers of Rockport High #3) by E.M. Moore

Senior year. My last chance…

The Ballers took everything away from me last year. Riding the bench wasn’t what I’d planned, and I don’t want a repeat of that this season. I can’t have a repeat of that, not if I want to accomplish all those goals I set for myself when I first came to RHS.

There’s one problem though. One Baller is determined to keep me on the sidelines. I’m broken because of him. Physically broken.

I can’t let that stop me though. There’s so much riding on this year, and I won’t let anything—or anyone—get in my way.

AT THE BUZZER is a reverse harem bully romance.

Wow, the ending of book 2 left me so angry! I understand people hate other people, but don’t physically harm one. While Tessa struggles to heal her wrist, her love life continues. I still feel she forgave the guys too fast for my liking, but at least they seem genuine to her.

We finally find out why Lake hates Tessa and let me tell you I did not see it coming. And while I still hated Lake, I really wanted him to be … spoiler here, but you’ll understand after reading the book.

One thing is for sure, he will not be included into the love lives of the gang.

All in all, this was a good series for me. I enjoyed it and even though there were things that annoyed me, I overlooked it easily. It is still fiction, so while other books reflect reality better, that does not mean I have to judge how I would deal with it in real life.

Foul Line (The Ballers of Rockport High #2) by E.M. Moore

The Ballers may have the upper hand at RHS.

I underestimated them, their cruelty, their ability to look the other way when something hits them over the head, but camp is a whole other story. Their asses are mine.

Foul Line is a reverse harem high school bully romance novel. It’s the second book in The Ballers of Rockport High series.

After everything the Ballers made her do and everything she faced because she wanted to join the team, they chose Lake over Tessa. Now she will have her revenge because summer means basketball camp and now the field is even. She will win again her spot on the team.

The guys, little by little, try to redeem themselves, because the idea of their lives without Tessa in no longer a good option. At camp she tries to settle their war on the basketball court, but Lake has other ideas.

I kind of felt the guys needed to do moooooore groveling, because she let them in too easy. I can’t imagine what Lake’s problem is, because it doesn’t seem to hate to love her, he just actually hates – hates her.

In this book we find out more about the guys and their history and their families. I can’t wait to finish the final book, because I really need to now what Lake’s deal is.

Game On (The Ballers of Rockport High #1) by E.M. Moore

I knew I’d ruffle feathers, but the day I walked into Rockport High, I had no idea the cheap shots that were to follow.

You see, the Ballers and I have a history. They play basketball. I play basketball. But they hate that I play basketball as good as them. And the only thing they hate more than that, is me.

That’s right. I’m a girl, and I. Can. Play. Make no mistake about it.

The Ballers can do their worst, but I will earn a spot on the RHS boys’ team. This is my last resort to make a name for myself, and I can’t let them interfere—even if the so-called kings of the school have declared war against me.

Game On is a reverse harem high school bully romance novel.

Seventeen-year-old Quintessa Dale is the daughter of famous NBA player Timothy Dale. She has been playing basketball since she can walk alongside her father. Even though she is as good as it gets, she has to switch schools because her female high school team is no longer supported by the school.

I loved this book, even though the high school bully books have been all over the shelves. Since I played the game back in the days, I kind of breathed the book. When they say you can feel the ball, hear the buzz and imagine the court, I can see it, because I’ve felt it.

All in all, I tried to focus more on the story and not second guess little things that annoyed me, like how easily the Ballers shared their girls, or how good Tessa was, but no one acknowledged her talent. I understand people felt she was in her father’s shadow, but come on!!! If you’re that good, nothing else matters.

BUT, the guys were good enough to make you pay attention, the plot was captivating enough to catch you into reading cover to cover, so it was enough for me.

Changing school, being bullied by the most beloved guys in school and also having you parents in the heat of the divorce was bad enough to make Tessa your typical high school girl.

This is a 3-book series that I read in a row. It will no go into my re-reading selves, but I am glad I managed to have my hands on it.

One would think that if Dale is the one everybody thought he’s the responsible one, the adult within the circle and that he thinks before he acts, well… this book is his, and it will prove you wrong.

This story is based on the events that happened before prom, when Rain found out about her medical problem, and the guys ditched their dates. Harley was supposed to be Dale’s date, but that turned her into a target for more bullying.

Fast forward years later, she comes back for revenge. Revenge on the girls that humiliated her, the guy that broke her heart and her family that rejected her and also took her inheritance.

Now, she’s the queen of the nerds and her revenge tastes sweet. Only, Dale proves he was different than the boy she hated for what he did. This man is everything she yearns for, and she needs him more than she realizes.

In this book we learn more about Britt, who quickly becomes an asset for Hayley’s company, proving that Britt belongs with the nerds.

Even if you might think Dale is the silent one, the mature one, he’s in over his head with Harley.

I think Bella’ story was one of the ones I really enjoyed! She is hilarious on her own, without too much trouble! We have seen parts of her character since A Redo, the book where Allie meets Wren, her baby daddy.

Bella has managed to become on of the circle and she has earned her spot by being loyal, funny and perfectly toxic for Ethan Noles.

Ethan returns to Sterling Shore after managing his father’s company for 10 years. He wants to live again and relive his youth, since partying was out of reach between working all the time. His party turns him into the E.R. where he meets Bella.

I love how he became a little obsessed with her before knowing she was part of his circle of friends and how he gets jealous when somebody talks about her.

This series is becoming better and better, so it would be a tragedy to ask me what my favorite one is. Truly a tragedy.

When I need a good book, I always return to the Sterling Shore series to get me out from this book phase. It’s hilarious and CM Owens blows my mind with how brilliant she is.

It’s funny how I always laugh out loud every time, even if I know what it’s all about. It’s like watching Friends, the TV show, and still think it’s funny. This week I was telling my sister-in-law how she MUST read this series and I got excited for 10 minutes straight.

We already know most of the guys, we get glimpse of Corbin and Ruby from previous books, but now… Now, we get to meet them properly.

Ruby Kross is one bad-ass woman who was dealt with a bad hand but managed to get out stronger! Her mother used to take advantage on her nut allergies and get her admitted in the hospital, struggling for her life most of the time! Luckily, her father managed to take her away.

Corbin and Ruby tried 3 times to date, but every time something happened, so they made rules about their friendship and how their Triple Dare game works.

What I love most about this series is that while we focus on the main characters, we get side story glimpses on the rest of the guys!

Next in line is Identical Disaster, which is Bo’s story, Ruby’s best friend. She will become stranded with one hot Jax Marshall.

Thom Lange AKA the Wolf has a secret he’s been keeping from his fiancée, but that changes when she decided to leave him and literally blowing away into his world.

Betty finds out that Thom is not the boring, average fiancé she’s been living for a year now, a man she was planning on spending her life with. He is actually a man with a secret life, and he has been lying to her ever since. More bad news, since they are hunted and gunned at multiple times.

Being on the run makes them see the reality behind every mask, every secret and every lie. They soon find out how things really stand between them, how Thom has been faking to be an average man in an average and content relationship.

Between the chemistry that burns around them, the bullets flying, and his teammates being hunted as well, they start an op to reveal who betrayed his crew. I liked how she was involved in everything and how bad ass she was soon becoming.

This was a shot but fun read for me, since I am quite familiar with Kylie Scott’s books. I really hope we will find out more about the rest of the characters that survived this book!

Anti-Stepbrother by Tijan

He told me to settle.
He asked what was wrong with me.
He called me an easy target.
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.

He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.

Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.

I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?

Ahh, this book left me wanting for more. Whenever I read TIjan, I get into a book bubble of her books and start re-reading everything I love from her.

Anti-Stepbrother is one of my fav. Tijan has a sense of humor I completely get.

College Freshman Summer arrives early at College to find her stepbrother, a guy she loved for 2 years now, but he’s in bed with another student’s girlfriend. And the worst part, she covers for him.

This is how it all started between her and Caden Banks, because he’s the brother of the student’s boyfriend.

Her journey in college soon changes because she in torn into looking out for her stepbrother and checking out on Caden. After a few situations, they become good friends and spend a lot of time together. She’s funny and smart, with hilarious comebacks.

“I’d settle for Hot Tits.” I glanced down at mine. “Maybe the positive reinforcement will help them grow.”

An all 5 star awesome read!

Ryan’s Bed by Tijan

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should’ve left…
I didn’t. I didn’t jump out. I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

Wow, what a ride! I love when books feel so complete to me, there’s a satisfied feeling about ending a book like this.

Let me tell you why you should read this! It has everything in it! It’s deep, emotionally draining and so freaking raw, you cannot believe!

Mackenzie loses her twin sister the day before turning 18. She finds herself moved to a new town, without any friends, and at a house where she and her brother Robbie stay until her grandparents come to take them.

Everything is heartbreaking and she finds herself, by mistake, taking Ryan’s bed instead of his sister’s. this is how all starts and soon they develop a friendship, a bubble where they both are safe.

They are still in high school for a year, and everything comes at her because Ryan is a popular guy, maybe the most popular guy and everyone wants a piece of him. Too bad for them, since he’s into Mac.

This is a journey to self-awareness that will blow you away.

Just one thing, when you see that you have 2 more pages left to read, please film yourself to see your reaction to the last sentence at the end. I can assure you, your mouth will have to be taken from the floor.

Feel free to send it to me, I’m sure we’ll look alike!

Teardrop by Tijan

I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that’s the PG version.
He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies.
And just like that, our friendship was off to a great start.

Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder.
Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation.
He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work.

Correction: where I work again, because I was fired from my last job.
And dumped.
And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right?

Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends.
We shouldn’t have become roommates.
And we really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.)

I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.

Everything about Teardrop Shot had depth in it, and I crave books like this! Charlie (a name I love, by the way) has been hiding for about a year until one of her friends tracked her down and convinced her to return to the camp that she has been working for when she was young. Now, in her late twenties, she has been through a lot!

In the beginning you’ll laugh out loud, maybe bark some laughter! She is hilarious and her lines were really effing smart!

At this camp she meets the team of basketball NBA players Seattle Thunder. The team she has been freaking out! And by team, I mean Reese.

Cupids Anonymous by Lila Monroe

Rule #1: Don’t get hit by your own arrow…
I’m a professional Cyrano – minus the honking great nose. Need a love note, raunchy sext, or apology letter so epic that your other half will forget you hesitated a beat too long when you asked, ‘does this make me look fat?’? I’ve got you covered. But when my most frequent client, the annoyingly charming (or is that charmingly annoying?) Dylan Griffin comes to me with an unconventional new job, I discovers that three little words can add up to one BIG complication.

Because Dylan doesn’t want help seducing another swimsuit model (for once in his life). He wants my help winning over his high-school crush (aka, his one true love) – and he’s prepared to make it worth my while. Throw in a summer Catskills trip that’s equal parts ‘Dirty Dancing’ and dirty-talking, and this Cupid is soon out of her depth – and head over heels with the last man I expected. But can I find the right words when it comes to my own heart? Or will this happily ever end in disaster?

Lila Monroe is one of the authors I go to when I am in the mood of a sweet and funny rom-com!

I was excited to read Cupid Anonymous and more excited to know that this is the first book of the Cupid series.

Poppy is the Cyrano that helps her Clients speak words when they cannot and goes where love poems and anniversary / proposals take her. This is how she meets Dylan, a hotel owner, hot and yummy, but a man-hour, nonetheless.

Dylan is Poppy’s biggest Client, since he uses her Cyrano services quite often. He makes her an interesting offer when he sees his high school crush and wants her that bad.

In comes Poppy again, doing her best work, but in the meantime, things start to shift, Dylan and Jasmine are as awkward as hell, and Poppy catches his attention more often.

They cannot fight their attraction, but is it just lust or more?

Making Up (Shacking Up Series #4) by Helena Hunting

A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Rating: 8/10

I was so excited on Making Up coming out, that maybe I put my expectations a lot higher. I think Helena Hunting’s writing is, as always, on point, and her characters make good on the Mills family. I guess I feel like this because Griffin Mills was supposed to be more. At least in my head it was, based on his crazy brothers. I mean, compared to Bancroft and Lex… there are no words.

Not only he was a bit tame for me, but he meets Cosy, which is 11 years younger than him. She’s a student and the difference between them seem important. From my point of view, other than her clothing style, I don’t see anything wrong for a 22-year-old to date a 33-year-old.

I guess working in a sex toys shop and being a 22-year-old virgin was meant to mean something, but these days I just ignore the virgin part, and I don’t want to get into details.

All becomes more problematic when the ex-fiancée comes along, and she drops a bomb on them.

And seriously, Armstrong manages to screw, literally, something here as well. WTF is with that guy! I imagine myself in Allison’s Wonderworld and … Off with his head!!!

All in all, the read was good, but I think I enjoyed it more because I know the whole family and am excited for the next guy, maybe Linc? He sure was more present in this book.

BTW, Cosy’s sister who in the beginning was quite the “bad” sister now appears to have a 360” and moved to NY. Can she be something along the way? I kind of did not like her, but I am all for redeemable characters so can’t wait for the next book in the series.

From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting comes I Flipping Love You, a love story about flipping houses, taking risks, and landing that special someone who’s move-in ready.

Rian Sutter doesn’t usually get hit on in the grocery store, but when she notices a sexy man in a suit checking her out, she thinks maybe it’s her lucky day. Either that or the suit has a thing for sweaty, yoga-pant wearing women with excellent price matching skills.

Turns out it’s neither.

Pierce Whitfield can’t believe his luck when he’s able to track down the woman who scratched up the paint job on his car at the scene of the crime. But when he confronts the hit and run hottie, he discovers there’s not just one, but two of them, and he’s been throwing accusations at the wrong twin.

As repair costs are negotiated, and the chemistry between them flares, Rian and Pierce find out they have more than mutual attraction in common. They’re both vying for the same pieces of prime real estate in The Hamptons and neither one plans to give up without a fight.

Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance—without burning down the house?

This book started really good. The grocery store where Rian Sutter is currently shopping at, comes with a gorgeous man starring at her. This suit apparently wants to track her down and make her pay hitting his Tesla the other day, after she run away.

Little did Pierce Whitfield know that this hottie has a twin, and she was the one hitting his car. He finds himself attracted to her and wants to take her out, but miss Sutter has other things on her mind and a past to run away from.

Rian and her sister run a Real Estate Agency in the Hamptons Area, where currently Pierce and his brother are interested in buying and renting homes.
After several run ins, accidental meetings and beach rendezvous, they put aside their business and give in into the passionate side of their life.

Of course, nothing is simple, and her dream of owning her grandmother’s house again puts a stop to what seems a betrayal from his part.

Is Pierce the one to make her dream come true?

Hooking Up (Shacking Up Series #2) by Helena Hunting

Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception–but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming her revenge screw.

Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.
They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.

Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.

Rating: 10/10

We knew this was coming ever since we’ve read in Shacking up that Amie was not going to end up with Armstrong. Even though his name is quite appealing, he is one D bag start to finish.

After they said I do, everybody hears miss “Whore-ton” blowing Armstrong right one the wedding day and this is the beginning of the end.

Amie wants to go away from this disaster media so she ends up in Bora Bora, on her honeymoon, alone. Not quite alone, because Lexington Mills has to run away too, because he was miss “Whore-ton” forced date, so he is in the crossfire too.

In this book we actually get to see parts of Anarchy Amie we only knew from Ruby’s retelling of her past.

One fling in Bora Bora turns into more when feelings get involved.

The rest of the books follow the Mills brothers, so I am sure that’s a hell of a reason to happy dance right now!

Shacking Up (Shacking Up Series #1) by Helena Hunting

Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.

Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.

Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

Bancroft Mills is one of the MC that comes to mind when I think of the series. He is one hell of a book boyfriend if you think of it. He meets Ruby Scott just in time, when he needs to travel for 5 weeks and has 2 precious fury friends at home that needs constant caring.

Luckily for him, or because of him, she is out of job, because he got her sick before her audition, and now she also is out of her apartment. He is forced to leave a stranger in his house.

“I feel like I should know your name already.”
“Well you’ve had your tongue in my mouth.” Not really the best words, or the most appropriate ones, unfortunately.
“Do you know each other?”
I wave a hand in his direction. “That’s Awesome Kisser… This is the guy who kissed me and then coughed in my face.”

I loved all their flirting because they have to videocall each other during his time away. Not to mention all their pent-up feelings gathering along the way.

This book is a great way to start the series and I can’t wait to finish it! Ruby and her personality were hilarious.

FYI, after finishing his book, I really want to adopt a ferret myself.

The rest of the books follow the Mills brothers, so I am sure that’s a hell of a reason to happy dance right now!

Whenever I see Office Romances, I grab them quick! I just love a book that gives me good vibes, especially after a hard day at work, in an office! He, he…

Emma is an overqualified woman working for a job that her jerk of an ex fiancé managed to screw her over. This is where she meets Arnie, and they get off on the wrong foot. They have an unspoken race they like to play, a game where Arnie starts to like her even more.

The chemistry between them is off the charts and I like how he is some sort of important guy in his Italian heritage.

What felt off for me, honestly, is that I have been reading a lot of English based romances along the years, and some of the language was not here. It felt very American to me. I know the author lives in England, and I would have loved more of their colloquial words in.

All in all, I have read this in one sitting, and I am sure I’m going to be checking Jolie Vines soon and see what else she has out there.

The Prenup by Lauren Layne

Ten years ago, I married my brother’s best friend. I haven’t seen him since. Until now …

Charlotte Spencer grew up on the blue-blooded Upper East Side of Manhattan but she never wanted the sit-still-look-pretty future her parents dictated for her. Enter Colin Walsh, her brother’s quiet, brooding best friend, and with him a chance to pursue her dreams. One courthouse wedding later, Charlotte’s inheritance is hers to start a business in San Francisco and Irish-born Colin has a Green Card.

Ten years later, they’re happily married. On different coasts. With separate lives. In fact, she hasn’t even seen Colin in a decade, and that’s just fine by her.

But fate throws her a curveball when her husband calls her back to New York, and she realize the boy she’s married is long gone. In his place is a shockingly appealing man … who wants a divorce. The problem? The terms of their prenup arrangement state that before either can file for separation, they have to live under the same roof for three months.

Now, in order to get divorced, they have to pretend to be married. For real …

So, I was looking through the books coming out today and as soon as I read the blurb, I picked it up immediately. I loved The Proposal, so there’s a lot of that vibe going on.

I looove this one, and my only single complaint is that I wanted Colin’s POV too. Damn…

Charlotte has been married for a decade to Colin, because they both beneficiated at that time, so a marriage of convenience seemed fit. I knew the moment he called to ask her for divorce that there was another woman in the picture. The only catch is that they need to live together 3 months before filing for divorce.

Now this is where things get complicated and life gets in the way, or let’s say love gets in the way.

Did I mention that Colin is one hot Irish, hot man? Or that the Immigration authorities are investigating their marriage?

This book was what I needed in this moment. I have read it in one sitting and am enjoying the thrill of reading good damn books! I always feel this was after having a week of good books!

Lauren Layne is one of the authors in my radar, and I often read her books.
