Book Review Gypsy’s Blood by Kristy Cunning

Jan 292019

Gypsy’s Blood (All The Pretty Monsters Book 1) by Kristy Cunning:

I’m not all that special, really. Or uncommon. I’m sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. Completely unoriginal, if I do say so myself.
Move along. Nothing to see here. Nope. I’m just an ordinary girl.

I wish people would believe that.

I’ve been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life:
Death Girl.
Crazy Gypsy Girl.
Gothic Chick.

It took my mother’s death for me to finally start getting answers about what’s really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men…who aren’t just men. Somehow, I’ve gone and landed myself in a world truly filled with monsters, and I’m starting to think this is where I should have been all along.

Only…I don’t understand what’s going on. I’m walking into the middle of a story that’s thousands of years old, and I’m the new girl on the block who doesn’t have a clue how this world even works. My only guides happen to be the most lethal of the bunch.

They decide who lives or dies. They decide who gets stabbed or tortured.

I’ve gone and drawn attention to myself, and the ones paying attention are the ones everyone else seems to fear.

How do these things always happen to me?

Firstly, I was so excited when I heard that Cm Owens will release a new RH series, especially when the 6-7 book series will come each, 3 weeks apart. That is great news because we don’t have to wait that long for them to be released and ENJOY the hell out of them.

I just love everything she writes!!! It’s bloody fantastic and she has a way with words that has me drinking every word. Can’t wait for Gypsy’s Blood follow up, Gypsy Freak to be out.

Therefore, I did not see myself loving books on Reverse Harem, but if they are well written and the story is captivating, then I don’t mind that there is 1 girl and 4 guys. I mean, we live in a judging society, but I am very open-minded when I read. That is why it’s called FANTASY.

However, some of you might want to wait until the whole series is out, but when you love an author so much, the wait is worth it. For me CM Owens is one hell of a woman with an imagination that blows my mind.

I think I will forever love everything she writes. Gypsy’s Blood is no different.

Violet is a Portocale Gypsy that will make you see her as a weak gypsy in a very oblivious world, where she has blind faith in her mother and her unknown plans for her. She moves to the town where her mother was having a shop to sell gypsy potions and other magic related stuff, but has no idea the kind of monsters that are ruling this town.

On the other hand, the storyline may seem a bit slow to you, but there are a lot of details that are needed in order to develop a character. However, everything you read will have an ulterior reason and the suspense makes you want to shout some really “happy” words.

To sum up, you meet the guys, Damien, Emit, Vance and Arion, which trust me, you will find it hard not to take sides on your favorite. They are the cursed monsters and we want to know why Violet is so important to them and why they are so drown out by her. Meanwhile, Violet leads her life and searches for answers.

“Maybe their parents didn’t love them enough and it made them stabby?”

In short, make sure to follow CM Owens’ website for news and new releases!

  1. […] reading Gypsy’s Blood, Gypsy Freak and Gypsy Origins, we were left with SO many questions that thankfully were partial […]

  2. This is absolutely one of THE best book series I’ve ever read and I’ve been book stalking since finishing book 1. Waiting for book 6 has taken a much bigger toll on my patients.
