Shacking Up (Shacking Up Series #1) by Helena Hunting
Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.
Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.
Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

Bancroft Mills is one of the MC that comes to mind when I think of the series. He is one hell of a book boyfriend if you think of it. He meets Ruby Scott just in time, when he needs to travel for 5 weeks and has 2 precious fury friends at home that needs constant caring.
Luckily for him, or because of him, she is out of job, because he got her sick before her audition, and now she also is out of her apartment. He is forced to leave a stranger in his house.
“I feel like I should know your name already.”
“Well you’ve had your tongue in my mouth.” Not really the best words, or the most appropriate ones, unfortunately.
“Do you know each other?”
I wave a hand in his direction. “That’s Awesome Kisser… This is the guy who kissed me and then coughed in my face.”
I loved all their flirting because they have to videocall each other during his time away. Not to mention all their pent-up feelings gathering along the way.
This book is a great way to start the series and I can’t wait to finish it! Ruby and her personality were hilarious.
FYI, after finishing his book, I really want to adopt a ferret myself.
The rest of the books follow the Mills brothers, so I am sure that’s a hell of a reason to happy dance right now!
