From the New Adult sensation and New York Times bestselling author of Until You
Madoc and Fallon. Two estranged teenagers playing games that push the boundaries between love and war…
For the two years she’s been away at boarding school, there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night.
I was stupid then, but now I’m ready to beat her at her own game…
Two years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he’s better than me.
But I won’t be scared away. Or pushed down. I’ll call his bluff and fight back. That’s what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he’ll never know how much he affects me….

The book “Rival” is the second book from The Fall Away Series, followed by Falling Away and Aflame, but you have to consider “Until you” as #1.5 in order. If you want to have the full experience, I strongly consider reading them in the order I have.
If you are on this page and you haven’t read the first novel, I suggest you catch the story line from the beginning.
The book tells the story of Madoc and Fallon, for which I can tell you I loved it more, maybe much more. Since I opened the first page, I could not let it down until I finished the end. I love the books that provide me an easy read and keep me there until the last page.
The story of these two seems much harder to anticipate then the one of Jared and Tate. Maybe because it is more real what happens between them but let me tell you that in the end the one that surprised me was Jaxon. He will be forever my go-to guy to wish to have in real life.
“When you stepped on Jared’s toes, you’d get punched in the gut. If you stepped on Jax’s toes, he’d hack into the county database and issue a warrant for your arrest.”
Rival is that book that makes you fall in love with the Fall Away series all over again. I got excited from the first pages, and that happens every time I re-read the series. Furthermore, you learn more about Fallon and Madoc, along with Jax and Katherine. Let’s just say Jax is awesome, and when you read the ending, you will absolutely want to read Falling Away!
Fallon is definitely the one for Madoc, since she is everything he wants and the challenge he runs with. They have history and even if they loved each other when they were young, people got in the way and separated them.
There is a way Penelope Douglas make you fall in love with her characters that cannot be put to words. I love the feeling I get when reading her books and that makes her one of my favorite authors. Her characters have depth that I strongly crave for and a lot of books to enjoy!
Madoc is clearly a strong young man and he gets what he wants and what he wants is Fallon. They make such a good couple, and you’ll love them for that.
On conclusion, if you haven’t read this series, or stopped along the way, start again with Bully and read them all. Penelope Douglas has in plan to continue the spin off with the next generation series with everybody’s kids and I cannot express myself how excited I am. She is a brilliant author and will make you love everything she writes. I can promise that!
“You’ve always wanted me. You know why? Because I don’t try to kill your demons. I run with them.”
