Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City #1) by Penny Reid
There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris: 1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn’t know how to knit.
After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can’t help wondering what new torment fate has in store.
To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan—aka Sir McHotpants—witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can’t afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn to make her an offer she can’t refuse.

If you are new to the Pennyverse world, this is the book to start! I just loved Janie and Quinn!!!
If you love your heroines quirky, hilarious and oblivious, then Janie Morris is the one for you. I am still mind blown by how smart Penny Reid writes! Janie’s “fun” facts are hilarious if you read her surroundings and how we can assume Quinn has the time of his life.
The book is told from Janie’s POV, but we get an epilogue on Quinn in the end. It’s totally worth it!
Janie gets her day in hell, finds her boyfriend of 5 years cheating her, gets fired for not wanting him back and escorted by the McHotPants security guard. What she doesn’t know is that her life is about to be changed, because Quinn has been keeping an eye for her as well.
Due to some interesting accidental meetings, finally Quinn helps Janie get a job at his company. She is brilliant but fights her insecurities along the way.
Quinn has a security company, but often works on the ground floors on his new building. This is how he notices Janie watching him.
Penny Reid writes very smart! I was in awe on her ability to make Janie a geek with Amazonian looks and fuck me shoes. Because she’s a little socially awkward, she is unaware on her charms working on poor Quinn, who has little chance on not falling head over heels for her.
Neanderthal Seeks Human introduces with Janie, her knitting group and her ladies. They each will have her own story and there’s a spin off coming with Ashley Winston, named The Winston Brothers. This group is hell on knits, because all the girls are different and yet they seem to form a friendship one would envy.
What I enjoyed is that the story is told from Janie’s POV, but the epilogue is in Quinn’s POV and we see a little bit of his thoughts and how he sees her and her knitting group. You’ll see this as something to happen to the next books in the series.
