Sing, gypsies, sing of your lies…
That old song plays in my head, as the world turns around me faster than it has ever turned.
Monsters and mayhem. That’s become my life.
Fear and apprehension. That’s become the normal for those around me.
Dread and distraction. That’s what has interrupted my own personal romance story with my mon-star quad.
Vengeance and retribution. That was the theme of the monster world long before I landed in it, and it’s starting to heat up more than ever.
Jabs from a complicated, ancient past keep coming so much and so quickly that I’ve grown desensitized to them. Which is a good thing, since I’m about to need a thick skin.
I guess it’s time to see if I can handle being in the middle, because that’s where I’m about to put myself. My mother always did accuse me of being a masochist. I’m starting to think she must be right.
Either they love me, or they love her.
I suppose it’s time to find out who wins. I don’t fight pretty, and I’m not that great at smack talk.
It’s not that they’re not worth fighting for. I just don’t want to have to fight for them. Not when when I’m fighting bigger battles already. Either we’re in this together, or I’m on my own. That’s for them to decide on their own.
Let the games begin.

We have been expecting Gypsy Rising to be released for quite a while now, but Kristy Cunning (a.k.a C.M. Owens) has met the high expectations for this series. Gypsy Moon ended on a major cliffhanger; thus I was eager to get my hands on this book.
Violet is becoming everything we never knew we wanted her to become. I anticipated her to gather some entourage of her own in this book so I am truly happy she’s done that, but in a mind-blowing way that I will let you read the book to find out.
Idun shows up and starts to play her part, but I loved every minute of how Violet “plays” her game, because I start to think, even though she is a kind and oblivious person, she has a master mind no body expected her to have. Even the boys doubt she can be THAT calculated, since they never even sensed her plotting her plan.
There is a scene where she confronts Idun in a Violet way that had tears to my eyes while reading. It’s strange how beautifully sad it was, meanwhile, I was so proud of her by doing a sacrifice to prove a point.
The 6th book is being written as we speak, so there might be some time to wait for it, but I know it in my bones that it will be the ending they all deserve. I just want front row seats to it!
I love this series because it has a lot of secrets and twists that I don’t see coming, and makes me paranoid with questions and predictions of how things will turn up.
Gypsy Rising is the 5th first book of All The Pretty Monsters series. You can find the reading order here
