I tend to read romance but sometimes venture into urban fantasy and the supernatural so when this author reached out and asked me to read her ARC and provide an honest review, I happily agreed. Especially since there was an awesome dog on the cover and I’ve got a soft spot for all the pups.

And I was not disappointed in the least!! The world that Harris creates is wonderfully exciting and different and yet co-exists within the world we know. Jinx, our heroine, is a strong, young and self-employed private investigator with an incomparable bullsh*t meter. No, seriously, you can’t lie to her. She’s got this incredible innate skill to tell when someone is lying. She soon comes to find out that it’s not just an innate skill.

Jinx gets hired on a missing person case but learns so much more than she bargains for about the world, about herself, her past and her abilities. We enter into a world with seers, wizards, werewolves, vampires, trolls, dryads and more!! A complicated world with its own governing body and political intrigue, sacrifices, bargains and mystical icons.

The book is an exciting, fun and engaging read. I didn’t want to stop reading and I cannot wait for the second book!
