Becoming a Vincent (The Wild Ones #1) by C.M. Owens
When you live in a place where “turbo speed” internet is a slight step above dial-up, men carry on nine-year beard-growing challenges out of stubborn pride, and your brothers do things like nail all your panties to the outside of your cabin just for funsies, you tend to be a little crazy. You can call it a “locational” hazard, if you will.
That’s Tomahawk for you.
We rank people based on just how crazy they are. And the four craziest families in town are called the Wild Ones.
I’m on the bottom tier of those, so technically I’m not as crazy as the other Wild Ones. In fact, if it wasn’t for my brothers and their endless antics, I wouldn’t be considered a Wild One at all. Ahem. Sure. We’ll go with that.
Anyway, I have a best friend who endures it all with me. Benson Nolans is my one, constant favorite person.
Without him, I’d probably go really crazy, and not the fun kind. It’d be ridiculous, after three years of a flawless friendship, to mess that all up by falling for him.
I mean, even if we did get a little too close one night, it’d be reckless endangerment. Even if we did suddenly feel the chemistry that’s always been there and stop toeing the line, it’d be a foolish risk to take.
It’d be stupid to start hoping a really fun, but completely irrational, night with zero inhibitions might accidentally happen.
*Completely, 100% crazy

“Wild Ones Tip #23
If a Wild One is screaming, just walk away. Trust me, we’re not dying.”
This is mostly what summons this book for me.
“Becoming a Vincent” is a hilarious and gorgeous book that I loved every minute of it. I started this series after reading CM Owens’ “Sterling shore” series which is my top favorite series in the world. That week reading it I found myself being in Heaven’s book, if there such a place
The world created by the author is a place I would like to live in. Seriously? Prove me wrong, I demand it! The crazy side of things, crazy characters, crazy love, crazy family, everything is with a side of craziness. The uniqueness and the simple way the people of Tomahawk live in with their 4 corners of crazy wild ones makes this book one that you should never overlook.
Lilah Vincent is one crazy woman, the only girl from a set of triplets. She is being set up by her aunt to try and find a guy soon and marry him and have babies. This is the corner of the Vincent’s where things start to develop. The storyline is based on the bearded man in Tomahawk that are growing their facial hair for quite some years due to a challenge committee, but Lilah finds a way to stop all this nonsense.
Part of the book is also told from the eyes of a newcomer (Liam) and his view of this one crazy town. His story is in the next book.
Lilah’s best friend Benson is also part of bearded men, but things change when the challenge is terminated.
In comes the craziness and their love story. Make sure to be part of it.
“Becoming a Vincent” is the first book of “The Wild Ones” series. You can find the reading order here
