Baking Me Crazy (Love at First Sight Book 1) by Karla Sorensen

Life lessons from Levi Buchanan: If you’re going to fall in love with your best friend, make sure you have the patience of a freaking saint.

Levi knew Jocelyn Abernathy was The One the day he met her and she kicked his butt on the basketball court. He also knew she wanted nothing to do with romance, and for very good reasons. So what did he do? He was the best friend she needed for five long years.

The day Joss comes to tell her best friend that she’s ready for love—with another guy—it’s like a punch to his … well, you know.

How does he show her that the real love of her life isn’t the random guy who bought her a pickle cupcake at the bakery? Well … he needs to wage war–one touch, one moment at time. Joss isn’t the only stubborn one in their friendship, and he’ll prove that the man for her has been right in front of her the whole time.

I fell in love with the Winston Brother’s world by Penny Reid, and I am extremely happy to get front row seats to the authors who continue to write into their world.

In Baking Me Crazy, the story takes place in Jennifer and Cletus’ world at her Donner Bakery and we see glimpses of them on and off.

I feel like this book has been a breath of fresh air.

The heroine is struggling to learn how to walk after being in a wheelchair for the past 7 years, due to a virus that caused damage into her spinal cord. She was an athlete, still is, and her struggles are real.

I enjoy the stories that feel real to me, even if this is a love at first sight / family “curse” one love type. I connected with the characters and this is what matters to me most in a book.

18-year-old Levi Buchanan meets 16-year-old Jocelyn Abernathy while assist coaching her basketball team. He realizes right there that the curse of his family is real, and he falls in love. When he asks her out, he gets turned down and get friend zoned. After 5 years of being best friends, he finally feels something has changed and Joss is ready to be confronted with his feelings.

Levi learns to live with his feelings and wait until she’s ready.

The Donner Bakery Series will have 2 more books and I can’t wait to get my hands on them!
